I'm Jeremy White ABC our Sports Radio by 52 breaking sports news. Text or supports the 55550. This is kind of what the Broncos are going through about spoiler what is the market we've. Dean cannon the market with the top guys eighteen to 2.2 million dollars we now have a habit to have perfect all the and market of twelve to thirteen million dollars is their middle is that the range of these current Taylor present as someone that we're you know sediment. And I would be surprised that they haven't had discussions already terms of where he fits. That's everywhere from ESPN is now at our last night talk about Tyrod Taylor bills contracts salary capitol watch other football stuff. If you missed it it's available in on demand audio and that's it WGR 550 dot com on demand audio brought to buy northwest make the switch to northwest. And get back to living Howard chairman Matthew here animal will be jointly built GM Doug Whaley. Were talking neonatal 3055888550. To 550 rich in cabinda which those two about that is one about a number of questions we have. For the GO of the bills whose with a right on the AT&T hotline Doug it's Howard in Jeremy good morning welcome to the Sharia. I'm doing great fills about you guys doing well it depends on your day is going and what you're doing it if you're doing well then my days probably going better. Not doing well give Renny get back in this studied some film. And then get on the road starting Sunday in its broad base we will we talked to less than a few weeks ago or maybe it was season ending whatever press comes yet mentioned at the time. Imperative to resign. According Glenn and Richie and I need to I you have Glenn taking care for now with the franchise tag. Do you think are you still confident that you'll be able to keep Richie and I need to before the market opens up. Or working diligently to do that and it's what led negotiation process is always not that can be clear cut and to find. With a certain timetable even though we do have. Ending date for. Coming soon with him being able to hit the market but. Jim Jim over an orphan David Dunn and that continues conversations. For awhile now also helped some positive comes from that. How important is Ritchie and car meat on your off season list of things. He's out there I mean you know you look at this from the standpoint of we've had we have the number one rated. Rushing offense and they keep that line together would be of very good stepping stone for us to continue to get better. When we go back a year dog your conversations to bringing cog Nino in the the first time more or both parties. Interest in one year was the kind of thing where you thought you know you'll give me a chance he just wanted one year to prove himself with. Was it ever discussed that may be longer term I was always a one year things might work for both sides. I think it was just keep coming. A mutual agreement of a copy of a contract that both parties felt comfortable with and it just happened to be that way where he is avoidable when it came to a one year deal. But it wasn't specifically hey this is a one year trial basis. He's 32. I think will be 33 before the season begins. How much does is that factoring into your decision making the age of Everett. When you look at it this. I mean. Him having that you're off obviously helped his body get better and he'll. And now hopefully gives him a couple more years at the back end of his career. But you do have to be cognizant of the fact because you wanna make sure the value is right for the longevity. That you get out of the player. The right tackle position what is the plan at this point is that is that very much up in the air. Well actually it's funny brush not show up we've got some positive. On news about his health. So we believe we he may be able to be in the and that that competition for the right tackle position starting with camps and we have three bodies. And I've always said since the day one competition. Raises everybody's level place we have three peoples to. Fighting for one position that's a good thing for the Buffalo Bills and the right tackle position Jordan who else is she is she reached SE RF ARC undercut. He's there are OK okay so we'll have had a chance to retain him and then now plunges on a contract so we'll have them those three guys Babylon now. And I love battles. He saw last year in in the quarterback competition. All three of those guys raise their level play out. And now we see we've seen the same situation at the right tackle position are you comfortable if it's those three guys Doug I know you said you got good news which positive news which shot Henderson. But do you do you you'd say okay we're gonna those three guys that sit we ought to worry about right tackle in the off season. Or you like any position and I said it from the start of the offseason. There's not a position on this roster that we wouldn't we would be adverse to adding someone be it through the draft or through the free agency or through trade. We are always looking that competition. When asked about quarterback in Tyrod Taylor we've heard from Andrew Brandt the moment ago is now with Murphy last night Sam Bradford got a two year deal cousins except his tag. I'm not gonna throughout Joseph Flacco numbers that Jeff but but in terms of tyra you'd mentioned you'd hoped to meet with his agent while you're in Indianapolis did you have a chance to talk to him in. How are things progressing or whatever you can tell us how are things progressing. I did not personally get a chance to to meet with terrorize agent not to talk to jail but I've said all along that if that deal comes to us or we. Meet with his representation. And we can come to a common ground where they feel it's good for them and we feel it's good for us we would definitely do a deal. What that will be that's still in the negotiation process but again we would not be adverse to. Where's that on your list how important or imperative or whatever word you would use that term. Be nice is it that is a luxury to get it done or is that important you to get something with Tyrod completed. I'll pay I'll play that the both sides of the fence if it would be nice for us to get it done. But at this time because we have him under contract it would be a luxury but everybody loves luxury correct. Indeed. We'll ask about this. And not the money standpoint Tyrod how confident are you or what kind of commitment do you think you in the coaching staff are willing to make because an extension. Might be viewed as he's our guy for awhile and I think in our conversations in the past we've talked about the staff PU you'd like to see him take. You know at the end of games maybe using more of the field. So when when you look at. Him and an extension for him without the money being a factor what what kind of confidence what kind of commitment. Are you guys this tale of value waiters ready to make to him. For Tom. That's where it where it goes back it has to be deal where you feel where we feel comfortable. I'm making that commitment to him but it also makes him feel comfortable knowing that we are committed to him but he also knows he has the get better and he'll be the first one Italian. Hey he's got to take it step but. Also we'll hit it. This is his first year plan he's played fourteen games so if you look at Reza maze of everybody has fourteen games they're gonna. You're hoping they're gonna get better is there a 100% guarantee not in this business especially at that that position so again it has to be something that both. Parties feel comfortable moving forward. Would you be concerned at all about his mindset if an extension isn't done would he go would you do you think he would be. Bothered by the fact that he might be underpaid by quarterback standards going into the season as a starter. Not wrong. He's a consummate professional and that tell you truth. I definitely do not believe that because he chose. To come to buffalo knowing he was going to be in three man competition so he's a sixth round pick he's always tried in my opinion. Believed in himself and come in and had never shied away from competition so for this. To go into last year the deal I've. Fully believe he will packages like he's the attacked him when he got here last year when he got the Baltimore is a sixth round pick behind Joseph Flacco. Those GM Doug willingness on the AT&T hotline with him you've talked about the progress the process a young quarterback goes through. You've made you know comparisons to the process Ben Roethlisberger made through when you were working for the Pittsburgh Steelers. With Tyrod next season Doug I don't know if you've had a chance to talk to Rex or Greg Roman about this. Is is there a next level is there do you push a little bit more artist played you. Or what what would your approach be would it be any different then you're one with Tyrod Taylor. Absolutely it's if someone because he's commends the starting quarterback so he will have. All the offseason to work with the ones to develop the chemistry that timing. With the with the receivers with the running backs with Charles clay and all the tight ends and then also the team won't know this is our guy so everybody will be. Believing in him knowing that this is the guy this is them them points in the huddle that we will hear. Throughout the season so that right there is a very Bakes hurdle I step. That helps him in his development. So then. Then he can sit back and look at how the defense is a tried to attack them. Throughout the year and then build off of that and experience is the best teacher of them that's the number one thing. He's seen a lot of looks at now he knows what he may miss where he made the mistakes where he can grow. When you're we're in year in India there were reports you guys don't interviewed a whole bunch of players are reports that at least three quarterbacks. How much are you thinking about quarterback when it comes to one of your draft picks. Well they'd like you said we have 2 quarterbacks both of morning in our lives there last year there content contracts and were run half that a quarterback be it. The draft trade or free agency we definitely will also we gonna do explore every option were hard working all the background information. And doing all the work on every quarterback that's out there that. Would be available to us when you talk about a quarterback by the draft you're talking day three. We're talk and wherever the value Fitz we're gonna continue to follow our draft board. And it's been successful specially last year everybody. Question why we took Ronald Darby will we could took Ronald Darby because he was the best player on our. Highest rate account our transport it seemed to work out well so I think when I know we're gonna continue that philosophy as to threaten the quarterback's eyes for a guy who run take. Each is under contract as he definitely back next season. That's I have for right now and again I'll say never say never but he is our plans for next year. With Doug Wheeler when I ask you a bit about. Go ahead you wanna Roger just aren't phase you know at the tender offers which might have to RF based. Yes look what tender offer we have a couple our phase and we're right now we still have a couple more deals good days to get deals done. But that's. Nice thing to have in our back pocket to make sure we secure their services for one more year. When nothing to report no player that's already been agreed to this point. No new contracts to agree to and now we have until march 9 but those are restricted tenders and you had I think six guys left is that right after gray not being tendered. I think so yes the I have to really look at him look at and look it up don't update yes I'm looking to elicit south got on our website he's got now Bryant Charles Rambo Hogan mills and Powell. How you absolutely those six apps look you won all six back is that the plan. We're working on them were normal we'll see if we can get all of them back but the plan is it to try to get as many back is possibly. I'm not type well I mean it's a guy that he lost early last year and fans might not really have much of a feel for for what what he can offer. That's but that's the best thing about us because we've seen them every day we have on the practice we've had an off season this is. We had a moment practice squad before so we have a really good field form though we can't we have to try to find something that's. Comfortable for his party and him and for us and work on that diligently as we speak. And a couple things on the defense side of the ball you guys part ways with Mario Williams when it comes to. Replacing him in the starting lineup what's the plan. That's going to be the interest in plan because the defense is gonna look a little different than last year. And there's a couple possibilities when Manny Lawson series win. A guy we had a late in the year Max bows out of Virginia. And then any possible additions we get through free agency the draft. Or trade so there'll be some possibilities and we have a moral one as essay on campus right now you said the defense a look a little different in what way. What's going to be in warm traditional 34 but then also were and what you eat you say that but then I have to go back and say. Boom when you go back and look at. The playtime. Of how our defense went throughout the year sick over 60% of the time we were a nickel or dime. So I'm gonna say it looks different than people would look up and say it doesn't look any difference because because of our division. New England. Three wide receiver sets the jets through our receiver sets if you look at case he does a lot through our receivers that's a majority of the times consumer plan division opponents. We're going to be and what we call sub which is nickel and dime so it's not gonna look any different. Is that really different it. Is that gonna lead teams there's a timer you guys are playing a lot of defensive backs up there and no chorus who received deer you know when there is an injury he had Mckelvin out there and that there was almost like a changing of the defensive. Based packages where you could really see a future where there are more corners on the field. You know you've got nickel dime what. Is that something that we should look for like that the theater football being movement more defensive back more corners and safeties. Absolutely and that's obviously in our game but if you look at it to take a step farther look at the college game. They spread everybody out and try to get people on space though. That's just where it's going to passing league. And now we actually consider our nickel back a starter now because again. He's playing more than a faith based starting. May be defensive tackle it. So that's just the nature of the beast than how football is these days I'm what do you feel the organization feels. That you need to add on the defense side of the ball whether it's draft whether it's. A free agent if you guys that cap room what parts are part needs to be added. Like I said. With our roster you'll open up and down there's not a position we could mad. But what we are going bad no matter what the position as is the person that is a productive player making football player that loves the process. And that's our rats are litmus test of guys that we wanna bring in. I can they produce too they love being football players too they love the process of coming that. So this facility everyday in trying to get better and we can go up and down from safety corner linebacker. A playmaker there on the offensive line and productive offensive lineman another wide receiver tight end running back. That's what makes this draft in this offseason so exciting for us as personnel people because whoever's the best out there there's no reason why. We wouldn't be able to take them. You you know earlier your talk about the the news about shot draw Henderson when asked about Aaron Williams. And and maybe that's something you guys. Wouldn't definitively know until he has contacted training camp. How does that affect. You're off season plan enemy do you have Q are you looking to bring in a safety. Do you need to bring a guy in that might have to start because. You're not sure what lap where there are willing to proceed there. Always lean heavily armed medical staff and they've cleared him completely the play and if we would've made the playoffs he would have been out there. Now when he takes it it once he gets out there he's just like any other player there's a possibility of injury but this. Injury he had there's not a propensity for him to have I think Ken. So we're not worried about that. But again that that goes along with what I said before if there's safety out there that we think can help us will take them but it won't be. Only out because of the thought of Aaron Williams uncertainty because he is cleared to play him again would have played if we would have made the playoff. I have one other draft a slash you've dug for that you'll but quickly on McCoy. I'm not sure what you can or can't say have you guys the team been given any direction. Indication at all from the leak. That you might have to begin the season without publish on because of league issued discipline. I'm gonna go with virtual state and we're gonna stand by that that's all I can sound that. You do you have to think about drafting a running back now. Again we'll go back there every positions open. It is I'm telling you guys think about it I mean just you guys can talk about when I get off look at every position on our team. There is no reason we couldn't draft some by now. Maybe you don't draft the guy higher because of certain positions but if there's a value pick and we feel that the best guy on the board. And it's proven as well last draft the draft before that. And that's the philosophy who or stick by it and I think we've had a little bit of success by doing that don't draft a kicker. Or punter. We I don't know now. I don't that's those those are starters now they they score points you know I got to score points as is their kicker not the honor. In the potter flip flips the field position that helps your defense you need to get heated seats up so. Again will look into the act position possible to make us better if we think that's the highest rig our board. The Mecca helpless there's no no reason why shouldn't I and again you guys discuss it and that will give you a nice little hour we can keep you all sit there and. I'm not only an hour where you should draft a punter and actually had a lot of stuff about the route the roster and ally and yet he personally I don't know if you need kicker because there was a bit of a back and forth on that so. You need to cater. Right now we will say carpenters under contract and you we got Jordan gates are worth their but again. Why not bring competition if we deem it's necessary or if we deem there's a value there. And that's necessity doesn't always trump value value I think trumps necessity. And that's where we're looking at on every position on this team that there's a value absolutely will will will do it is there a necessity now. Hey when it comes to draft that lasting and the evaluation and you've been around. Scouting for quite some time now we we from time to time talk about analytics. What's what's the role that plays in scouting when you're sitting down with your guys your writing up your report your meeting as a group. You have your film you watch practices you've done Europe security background checks. Is analytics a part of writing up a scouting report these days and if so blocked. No doubt about it and and discounting process is you you characterize it is it's a whole year process that there's a lot of things that go into it. And this year's more commonly in that it draft in April but discounting process started in May of 2050. And war have. As much information we can gather on that player. And culminate in a final grade in April and we try to get a Buffalo Bills grade that's right. And the analytics is just another layer of that process we had that in two. The come by and information we had that in from the medical information and that into the interview process that in the film study became tape the practices. So all of that we've put equal weight on but we did try to get as much information there's one lane and heavier weight heavier than any other. I would say the football part of weighs heaviest the most. But analysts actually adds to the total. Conversation of a player. Jewel of this annual list of of things we think you should get in the offseason chewy humility here. Absolutely heart no doubt about it next time I can read them off and everybody saying all right this is what they said you guys accountable and hold us accountable no it doesn't work out ran out there and we'd transit we tried tell people we never said that we burn the evidence and don't worry about that's absolutely. I wish I had that luxury more often enough though were accused of saying things we didn't says. I Jackson and if you want we don't let that stand in the way either good radio.
