He hurt and you know not not struggling. Earlier and the season. It wasn't. Wasn't awful and so I was of grateful to get back healthy and and it and to try to play about march these past couple weeks in on two different teams. What do women Super Bowl each team. I'm proud of that I'm proud to. Been a part of two. Football teams and organizations that have had a chance to win the Lombardi trophy. Blair all the time does not allow artists is to have the opportunity. To play in the gave him it's hard to not take it regretted. Peyton Manning announcing his retirement today that'll come today. As. One of the all time greats decides to say that's it for me. Wonder how much of it was his decision if not all of that I'd you know you don't really have any reason to question and it's all his decision how much is he. Read the writing on the wall from the Broncos they can push them out of that been speculation that the LA team might all banning fur of one year thing. Maybe you'll find out some of those details later today when Manning makes it official and announces his retirement so. They can brawl that Jeremy White with Matthew collar Howard is on vacation. This week's power is out this week and we will just you know do things as usual sabres play tonight. Against Toronto and then tomorrow night. The Rangers. Thursday Montreal and heavy week of sabres hockey will be charting of course the standings and all that. And see how things play out down the stretch will apply to say about Saturday's game against Minnesota. Marine asked Dan miles mile blunt questions tomorrow but for opera today. Artists are Peyton Manning because. His retirement means that one of the all time greats at that position may be the best ever not the most winning quarterback when it comes to post season comes to Super Bowls. That Manning is without a doubt one of the best ever. And if you think back and Peyton Manning in his career he was it a few different things. During different times at the start of his career he was the highly touted prospect who came in right away through a ton of interceptions but. Pretty pretty much knew that all those interceptions were the result of a quarterback it was. I cannot select the raptors testing the fence in Jurassic Park acknowledges he was trying to everything. And sharing mine out of the prettiest thing which had the idea that this is going to work is disguised completely counted. He started his career as. Manning and leaf right some quarterbacks lumped in with another guy there's Manning and leaf there's Manning and leaf and then leaf goes away Bledsoe had wrecked Mirant Rick Meyer went away. In this past year in the draft we had winced in Mario we'll see if one of those. One of those guys is ends of fading away and you want becomes. One of the greats but Manning starts his career as many leaf leaf becomes the butt of the joke Manning becomes the face of a league. A face of a franchise face of the league face of the passing Ara his fourteen. 4000 yard seasons that is more than anyone else that dwarfs everyone else to. There are many players with 4000 yard seasons no one has double digits other than Peyton Manning was four team. 4000 yard seasons that's a leap into instant trivial. So Manning is one of the all time greats and I guess what I want to discuss with the guys today to 8030550. Matthew collars here as well. Is how we will remember Peyton Manning he is an ambassador for the game. And I Allison here and you don't necessarily pumps tires all day because I don't think he's exactly per person but whatever. He is without a doubt the faces the Lee one of the players they have been the most proud to. Put in front of the camera most proud to use in commercials he is a businessman. He's. And in many ways you might think you might be the next John Elway who goes to a front office position. You've probably got teams that are ready. To give him those front office positions you've got television networks probably lining up to give him tons of money. To sit on their set and laugh and say you know overly cheesy jokes or maybe go in the Booth and breakdown passing games mating is forever. He's a first ballot hall of Famer he is. Just one of the best that I've probably ever seen in my lifetime and that list is short of guys that would even match his level. So hole you'll remember Peyton Manning because I was thinking about this over the weekend I knew once the announcement came that it would be today that he announces his retirement. I thought art will huddle I wanna talk about Manning how about a week. Can we get into a conversation about Peyton Manning. And my thought is this that. I think the all you need is a quarterback. Conversation. That era that we ventured and I've worked here at WGR since 2001 Manning's first season in the unit and a balance. 97. I sold Manning throughout his career. I am pretty much spend watching sports more closely talking a lot of sports especially awful all talking a lot quarterback. Peyton Manning starts the for a of all you need is a quarterback gave me a guy like that get to the top of the draft gave me quarterback because if I have one of them that I'm in good shape. And during the ninety's yeah we think about these these great pills teams of years gone by I don't remember people thinking all you need is a quarterback that of course you want all Famer but. We've all kind of in and come to realize the NFL is more geared toward passing. It's more geared toward one position then any other and the positions that affect that. Number one position the most. Well those are the next most important. You kind of go down from there left tackle became a big deal because you've got to protect that quarterback and and defensive ends of course got huge money. Because you've got to get that quarterback and defensive backs gave huge money could you gotta stop that quarterback it's it's. Everything about the league is about that one position. And I think it's kind of the it starts a little bit with Manning threw his career. The league changes and it goes from. Good balance I mean it was probably always a little bit tilted toward quarterbacks. It goes from good balance to holy cow it doesn't matter what else you have if you have that guy. You were set and and the irony is that in his final season. He's the opposite he's the you don't need a quarterback you can have a really bad quarterback and the rest of your team is strong enough can win the suitable. So from the beginning where he's the highly touted prospect and he's the number one guy to the end. Where he's kind of lost his abilities and he's gonna step aside because he doesn't happen anymore. It's quite a span quite the career for Manning. And I all remember him as one of the best ever I well I don't think I will think of him this and am telling what I think I think. I don't envision. Ever a conversation when asked who do you think about scored a record all time. I don't think they'll say Peyton Manning and I I don't really know. Why that is not to say he was missing anything he was. I mean just incredible to watch sheet he also. Played during the fantasy football era. Which is not lost on me the fantasy football error is the time in sports what starts in 97992000. And that neighborhood. I mean high school and college at the end of my high school career high school life and that in college. You start to know about more players fantasy football brought in more players Peyton Manning if you played in the sixties you would know bottom but not as many people would norms so well. Being able to see more games you were able to if you want to. Go to a sports bar and watch Peyton Manning every week or you have it in your home every week Manning is the growth of the game. In one person to me. Over the course of his long eighteen season career of the game is changed a lot be realigned. And put Manning and the colts in a what seemed to be a pretty easy division for a lot of those years he won a lot he went to the playoffs a lot he lost the playoffs a lot. Goes all the to a Super Bowls won with. Two different teams. And the career comes to a close and never wanna look back and saying that rate there's one of the best ever not just for the statistics. But for me for the place he holds in league history. And that. Fantasy football point that all you need is a quarterback point there's a lot in there that. To me is why Peyton Manning is one of the faces of the not just the coal to the Broncos but one of the faces of football. And for better or for worse Matthew the all you need is a quarterback conversation started there and he was both the case for it. And also the case against it which is why to me he's the perfect guy for that. Because you'd say well look at Manning if you need more than just the quarterback because his playoff record is that code or he's probably one and guns as he had he's been. In the playoffs and out nine times you need more than just the quarterback and then you know the two guys in the ball argue back and forth because the one guy it's they will yell at least that in the playoffs. And I feel he's the guy that embodies that more than anyone Brady at the start of his career we we argued gives a system quarterback. Brady was just up a role player even though now looking back we know he wasn't but the stark we kind of thought that was possible with Manning that was never the case. I think this statistic about votes. The quarterbacks who made the AFC championship game. His involvement in that it's either been him Brady or Roethlisberger every year but one. Are made the Super Bowl for the AFC. And Flacco was the I don't know how higher and the dominance I think this this comes to the end here today with the dominance of Brady Manning. And also makes me kind of think. Brady may not be that far away from retirement but that will be always the thing that. Comes to mind you which are mentioning with the wins in the playoff record and all that for Peyton Manning. When were talking about what his legacy is his he wins the Super Bowl it's odd because he didn't win the scooper bowl. Almost anyone in the league could've played quarterback and Denver would've won. And yet it's sort of leaves you with the pace the new amount that he won his last Super Bowl and walked out on top even though for most of his career. A big part of the conversation around Manning was that he didn't. Get to the Super Bowl and he didn't win as much as Tom Brady. Well that's partly comes the greatest of all time and what I do wins this last approval to a just sort of not factored in because he was so bad. Or do I say well it was good enough to get it done no I guess that counts. Maybe it's the answer to Brady winning one because the Seahawks didn't run the football. Can you believe that in on the football by the way but think about that Brady was supposed to lose that last one and he didn't. And there were articles the next day that Brady because of that win while now is the best ever and why because knuckleballer picked off Russell Wilson at the one. The quarterback is. He is who we is how many times was Manning really bad in the playoffs the trust me there're several are a few. It games in New England very very early in his career. And it almost seems like those games kind of stuck with him in defined him. And he always had that answer questions about being a one and done got they lost the game to them the ravens on a hail Mary. What Roland and that does he have. That's a game that they should win. But because the hail Mary goes in Denver at mile high. He gets bounced out of the playoffs frantic just sent over time your chance to win in overtime and didn't but for a pick at the end he did but he shouldn't have had to so in a Manning is also conversation about do we put too much. On winds not just regular season and postseason wins over the weekend I was listening to a guy on the station or whatever. Talk about how he's the best ever regular season quarterback and I thought that that shouldn't be talked about as a bad thing has like got. But. He was a major disappointment a post season. His playoff record overall post season he's got the most losses of anybody but he's also got the most wins. He was. Over the course of his career fourteen and thirteen. As a star in the playoffs. But that's not the most went. I'm sorry they listen twice fourteen with Indian fourteen at Denver risen 28 career fourteen and thirteen in the playoffs. It is tough he lost his first three playoff games. And didn't make it to a soup rule for awhile so like you had. Questions to answer it wasn't until 2006 well under his career. That he finally. Answers the bell and does what everybody wants to do which is win the Super Bowl so he's he's conversation about. Passing stats about winning and losing in the regular CC members of the post season and the style of play some people love the style player other people kind of got. Other buyer for whatever reason. He was not exactly polarizing. I you'll find too many people that don't like him. It's only polarizing when you talk about him vs break. That then you have a lot of people who will lean toward Brady because he's won more or lean toward Manning because these statistics are better. Throughout his entire career Brady had one Manning last year when he and Randy Moss and went undefeated but Manning did that sort of season. On a regular basis and statistically there's almost no comparison how much better Manning is the Brady but the winning. And the recent especially the reason big seasons from Brady in the later part of his career there were some early on where they won and is this fixer just. It's you know I mean they're good but they're not. Outrages. 5000. Yards leading the league in passing. You know the black ink on football reference when you led believed. It's it's there's so much more on Manning's page then there is on Brady's but everyone would argue Brady is all about the winning I think Manning is also. A victim in a way of even in college he blew it in some big games never won a bowl game right didn't have big bull games that they lost to Florida coming into the league was. Well in those guys really good but he really kind of joked in those games and any loses first three playoff games. And the first impression you get of him as I mean this guy doesn't really. Step up and even against Chicago I think it was the MVP. But the pretty to a couple picks and they had to run the ball a lot and people didn't like Manning said. It was a really all him he got kind of lucky getting to face Rex Grossman. Yes Super Bowl right. No playwright he came in. That the reputation was there before he took single snap that this guy can't win the big game. Is getting drafted number one overall there's so many good things to say a bottom so as you're looking for something to say it's bad you say well he can't win the big game he can't beat Florida derby Florida in his group and the next year probably didn't help this conversation. That the very next year Tennessee goes on when the national championship. If he's there for four years he doesn't win the Heisman he does on a national championship he never beats Florida and the next year T Martin goes out beats Florida and when the national championship. So yeah he comes in with that reputation whether or not it's fair well that's up for debate. 8030551888550. To 550 if you wanna join in. Chime in on the conversation how will you remember. Peyton Manning think about that for a moment. And give us a call because you know he is an all time great maybe you've got kids even got a son when he was on her daughter when they ask me five years. What's the best ever saw when you say Peyton Manning. He certainly. Top five maybe top three depends on who you've seen I didn't see Johnny united side wanted to try to compare and a Johnny Unitas I wanna compare on the Tom Brady and Joseph Montana is well. You know Montana is and has been a go to answer for me for most of my football watching like but I think Brady's probably passed him. And with Montana I wonder how much guy romanticized. The guy that was the best at passing in what was largely a non passing era. 4000 yard seasons. Manning finishes with fourteen. Just to compare Brady. Or do this for instance regulator so even though I'm giving this answer away and whoever against this Brady has half as many seven. It's a total one route for 4000 yard seasons for Peyton Manning and maybe you think that that's just it'll. Popping up stats your whole career is he never ran the ball your team pass the ball too much maybe even think that's to their detriment. Jim Irsay of the colts one of the things he said about Manning. After he left was that the Errol was a bit disappointing. And they won a Super Bowl they got a new stadium they got a Super Bowl in that new stadium and all that happens because of Peyton Manning without that other colts any different then I don't know the jaguars. Or any other random team the bills just like they might have moved maybe they're just kind of sit around. In the middle doing nothing and instead Indianapolis became like this megaplex. For football. And it's because of Peyton Manning at Lucas Oil Stadium is a house that Manning deal. He makes that franchise so much more viable and so much more. Much more a player wise Indianapolis getting on primetime television with out Peyton Manning now they do with Andrew walk away during good shape. But if Indianapolis. You know kind of just messes around with quarterbacks like dolphins rank Fitzpatrick but you know guys like that. It's just Indianapolis and no one cares about Indy he shows you that no matter how big or small your market if you are. A superstar. Eat your they're gonna find Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay right green Bay's not a huge market at all. Why did people wanna watch green vegan because they wanna I wanna watch Aaron Rodgers. And it's another example of how Manning is to meet the star of an era and that's the all you need is a quarterback or the other quarterback driven league. It almost seems like they saw Manning and thought let's change some rules this is the guy we want to have the lead this new era of. Passing if he had won the Super Bowl this year there were being Knoll even yell but. When it comes to this conversation because the last bad quarterback even win. Would have been Trent Dilfer but then he had this bad year he's still Peyton Manning but. By the quarterback wave that we talked about a for a long time Cam Newton probably should've won it but I think about. His record year after year after year how many 101213. Win seasons are more that he had. And how many players are just moved in the moved out and shuffled in and shuffled out and every GM every player personnel person. They end up looking like a genius. With. This running back that running back he had wide receivers they were pretty consistent dead and the Mike Harrison Reggie Wayne young guys in the right end Dallas Clark is pretty consists that he had a consistent center in Jeff Saturday but I mean other than that. You're shuffle people in and out year after year two different teams. And with him he was so good that you could put him on almost any team there was one here where I thought this is like a last place caliber team and here they are winning like. In a game ends yet industrial 550. How do you remember how will you remember Peyton Manning. Rated it. Under appreciated. Revolutionary. Whenever you got Al you're first up here and be sure the morning L. Dylan. Make a point out that he. Manning at Baylor vs Tom Brady get Billick. He tried to carry he used. But the call back cut on his career brought up I was so. It netting a sign that I achieved. In primaries he wouldn't say it was more complete T. I'm. I'm product right now I can't is that you don't wanna jump on you consumer. He got the rankings are cultures Petri I think you'll see that. I'm breeders' been married he had to carry out your parents are the though. I thanks thanks sell on a really quick look here's the first thing I found all time fourth quarter comebacks. Now there could be a number of reasons that you have to come from behind in the fourth quarter you could have to. Alex called the Jay Cutler comeback where you've thrown four picks but maybe it's the Jake Plummer for it which was Jake Plummer right Jake Plummer throws four picks in the first half you're down. Seventeen points in the lead you'll win it's a what a comeback by Jake Plummer. You might have been on hold because him. So on fourth quarter comebacks in the supply like to make about the patriots from time to time to. You can only come from behind if your defense lost the lead. So. That's a case against how good your defense was Peyton Manning is all time number one in fourth quarter comebacks Topper. He's number two that's kind of interest that I mean maybe just as he started so many games but at a thought there would have been. If you were fourth quarter comebacks because he was always beating teams by Eli Manning yes thank you was always ahead now by a lot by the fourth quarter and he would nets comeback but I guess you play enough games you're down at times. 39 different fourth corkum historic 4539. CH 45 different fourth quarter comebacks Brady has 37. Now Manning is one year older each missed one full season so that's about a half a quarter are half a fourth cork on back. First season almost anyway. I mean comparing the patriots to the Broncos. Assuming that. The HGH thing may have been just the fuses neck together to keep its head on and he wasn't doing HEH for his whole career. With Peyton Manning or that there's anything really to that let's just put that a sight and with the Manning vs Brady conversation which is to me where it always gets to Doug one of the two comes up. A big part for me is that the patriots were cheating don't we cut them. I can never put that aside and say. Well yeah I mean they were cheating whoever at all that torch to win games they terrorists stealing signals and doing all of those things are messing with the radio broadcast may have. Telecheck who's just maniacal. Mood. As their coach who consistently I think found ways to skirt the rules whereas if you look at with Manning. And maybe they were doing some things I don't know but the fact that it's out there win the patriots. And then even the flea gate to go along with making you think David probably trying to find ways to cheat for his entire career. In the comparison it's a big factor for me and why I've always leaned toward Manning and I. Put that ahead of Albright does have more championships and his team cheated improbably cheated to try and get some of those. You know and you put that together with all the regular season statistics. That Manning is so much better than Brady and I can't. I can't forget about the cheating that's involved there. 8030550. 188552. But picked it gives the call on Manning on your memory than you mention Manning and Brady we've we'd just start to scratch the surface on that legal it's at. The list of athletes that are forever linked. Manning and Brady you're I think you're actually right you mention Manning and you think about Brady how long if you bring up meaning in conversation as best ever. How long before someone mentions Tom Brady's name thirty seconds and then there's the same era you're getting him and Manning Brady before you demanding vis Bradshaw for sure. Industrial 5518088. By 52 puppet to its march 7. Wednesday. The big day for the bills and becomes a free agency Tyler Dunne had a piece a great piece in the Buffalo News on Richie Jeanne got veto will talk the latest on in cock meal. Why he isn't planning on a hometown discount wide I don't think he really showed. It makes sense for him lots to get to today 8030550 suck botch a joint city o'clock we'll recap the sabres win over on our receivers should a lost. But the got to shoot out goal total common. The Minnesota happened on Saturday busy week for the sabres but we're starting with Peyton Manning V. What ever you want NFL history V Brady here under the age here. Look at the sports world number two we're talking about it. Kickers did growing thicker line. Baker the minute period. He's got great guys. He's an idiot. Who is he talking about and asking rhetorically as I do remember you remember Matthew right. Which categorize it's Mike Vanderjagt Mike Vanderjagt correct. He was the colts kicker before Adam Vinatieri won their had a second career. It's here is that the patriots are so long and and lots and went equivocal so. Mike Vanderjagt great Peyton Manning moments from the Pro Bowl. 88 kicker. Good morning it is 6:35. This morning Jeremy White with you as Howard's on vacation so it's just mean Matthew today that you producing Howard's out this week. And we've got a busy week on the way three sabres games. Toronto now. And the Rangers then Montreal and two of those three teams might be rooting for losses speaking with four to back agreement quick point. The biggest upset in NBA history in the regular season on winning percentage apple can lakers beat the warriors which is. If you had. A time machine you would come back and just put reasonable money on that catch and beat the warriors were eighteen point favorites and they lost. And while I. Did not see that one coming it's the kind of game Matthew I couldn't help but think this watching it happen if you were a lakers fan that went to that game. It might have been the worst experience of your life. Mainly because you thought are right my teams gonna lose lakers lakers aren't tank mode Magic Johnson is rooting against them. He's already thinking curry could score sixty writes you're thinking policy step Corey go crazy on my team to get lost because. We need tank to get to the bottom the need to be in the bottom five. And I curry goes one for ten these terrible attempt at a lakers win you probably log out there thinking and well great I mean we wanna game means nothing we saw the warriors play terrible and now. What was that for. At how I would have felt like if you come in here and CIA the Blackhawks are delicate tapes game to see Toews and Kane and in the bull to have thirteen turnovers and they lose you think I I don't there was a hope Megan on the loss from my team but. Agree performance out of one of the all time greats. And I didn't get it. So tough one for Laker fans take it a three goal 550. Jeremy White Matthew cholera here Heidi remember Peyton Manning a put up the obligatory. Brady Manning Twitter poll. And here's how I asked if I try to make it is even as I possibly could pay Manning to announce his retirement today. So stay tuned for. All the news on that show lots of coverage it's a Peyton Manning retrospective common date we've got to Winston trivia is based on Peyton Manning it will content throughout the course of the morning. But the question is. Drafting as an expansion team making its first peck. You would take. Radio arming. And you're picking number one overall you're not you don't negative at first one to argue that they Brady in the sixth round no you don't at. You do not your first overall pick Brady's there Manning's there you don't have bill Belichick's genius coach you'd don't have. Marvin Harrison or Ty Law or. Insert all the players on there are sort of team you don't if your expansion team you're starting today you're picking your player. Brady or Manning tried to give Manning as much as I could because I think it weighs pretty heavily towards Brady. You know Manning has had the better passing career. People like in Clinton's justified people want the wins people want the guy that comes across to them as. Comes across as more clutch comes across as. A performer in the big spot Brady winning his first nine post season games. Sets the stage for that Manning losing his first three and being a one and done guy kind of sets the stage for himself first peck you take. I don't I don't think it's even close I think you'd take Peyton Manning to keep it Tom Brady C I would take Britney and the only times Brady luckily passing two times. I mean part of that is because. Peyton Manning is in the week. I think as a player. Who'll. Could take a team from expansion level. Your drafting play here's offer or was the Texans had the last round of northern Tony to celebrate Tony miceli they're taking off of other teams that you're just. Putting together spare parts of a football team. It looks like the replacements movie and then you get Peyton Manning. I think that you've got a better chance. To win with him. Then you do with Tom Brady I think with Tom Brady yeah I think with Peyton Manning you could have a Golden Retriever coach the team and a and and he would just. Takeover. And with Brady such a big part of it is the cheating. The ballot check how good the whole teams were the caller mentioned earlier how good the defense is were which really carried Brady early on. I I would have to go Manning and I. And trying to figure out. And I think it's always the question just how much do we put into that playoff record with Manning it's just okay. And two Super Bowls but one of them is like and when that in fact you throw an interception and fumbled the ball that almost gave the game away. To the Panthers he did more to hurt the team. That he did to help the team and it was the fewest number of what passing yards ever happened for a Super Bowl winner so much credit do I really wanna give them for that. But then you go over Manning's career numbers in the regular season and you. If you can put him on any team any time and you're guaranteed playoffs you are guaranteed 1012 wins. If not more just by having him as your quarterback and he's just sold statistically better than Brady that I can't ignore. It's it's a big it's it's a big big gap so worked his career fall short did it mean Jim Irsay owner of the colts. Called the disappointment a few years ago is really kind of a let down felt like they should have had more than one super boy I remember. You know when that quote came out we kind of flip our lives as a team that certainly would settle for that let down as the city was set some ultimate kind of let down. Manning doesn't have great defensive players on these teams the three best. Dwight Freeney Bob Sanders Robert Mathis and is that 123 that's cause they gonna via a is the patriots let's much better. Ty Law. Willie McGinest Richard Seymour Vince Wilfork. Billick we know the Patriots defense is a little bit better because the bills played in so much but. How many hall of famers on the defensive side of the ball will Brady's teams have and it's Super Bowl against. Seattle. The Patriots defense is a monster at that and they had read this and with Revis was there on up as a hired guns I mean Revis could've gone. Anywhere but yeah I mean I I just mean. In the course of Manning's career vs Brady's career how many defense of hall of famers on each is there is there a stark difference. I don't think Brady gets too many I mean Bruschi and Rodney Harrison problem Rodney Harrison go win but was. Hall of fame level player when he was playing he mice one of the bat he might he goes and he gets the you know the treatment where guys that wanna win Lleyton their career whether it's Revis or Harris and they go and they sign on the team they think they can win. And the fact that they and that that's Peyton Manning to that himself he went to Denver thinking. You know I've got one more shot this I've got to go to the right team where my gonna go and it was down to a what Denver. San Francisco Miami those the three big teams that were after Manning and he chose Denver. Apparently chose wisely because he wins a Super Bowl they won a lot of games and they are good enough to carry him after he'd kind of lost his fastball. So looking at Manning V Brady it's. Enjoyed it it it's an age old discussion how many other players are linked like those two. The all time links in sports Manning Brady done that the link. One of the first ones for me is Ali Frazier. Boom linked right there that's two guys that. Not because they're on the same team like Montana and rice right. How many. Pairs are there like that like let's be honest meet David cycle might be one for a long time depending on how. Mean Jack honestly kinda has to keep up at least a little bit. Ball economy David my capital 120 points. If Jack puts up ninety's. And the sabres win more games that's kind of like Manning Brady knew if it works out that way. Woolsey that's a long eighteen years ago first I thought it was Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi okay. As so epic one. I don't think their think anybody gets to go with Tiger Woods no I don't think so either Mickelson did for a long time but that was more and personality and performance and I say that is a huge Mickelson fan. He was not. Number I'm the guy that finished number two did tiger more often I think it was Ernie Els Ernie Els one season finished behind him. With the year tiger won three majors Arnie finish second all three. So woods and Mickelson but not the same not the same is Manning Brady the first named woods is Nicklaus right that's the guy that becomes a much more often. That if not for the steroid era would have been Sosa McGwire Sosa McGwire is good but bonds is the number one guy of that Rhine is anybody lumped in with bonds. Trying to think of Alex Rodriguez with someone but he gets kind of passed also. It would have been early in their careers Jeter and Iraq now and it was this that was the same sort of thing too because A-Rod was a statistically much better player. Then Derek Jeter nobody cares Hewitt 4040. And nobody cares right Jeter. He saw a World Series a group texts bird and magic of coral source thank you Gretzky and LeMieux. Guys that are always paired together one and one. So when Manning is retires Brady has due to what since I know right we can on the be so lucky. Is is LeBron and Michael Jordan. Is that fair he's always compared to him but I don't think the first name you think of when you hear LeBron the next person you think of as Michael Jordan and epic that happens with. With Manning I think that. Pretty close the next guy you think of is Tom Brady. They squared off so many times. Roethlisberger is their third dire in the big band right net. AFC championship statistic how many guys when the AFC it's either Manning or Brady Roethlisberger. But Manning and Brady is an all time one tool but of the root of sports debate that so many people. While the half with a with your buddies whose coach take Manning or Brady no image you're crazy. It's sort of digs into how you analyze sports in general how much value. Do you put on winning it would be the same if you debated Dominick has shaken Marty birther. Because broad juror has more cops. He won more games he's not even close who is critical to know it is statistically. Handshake he just runs over him with a truck which I don't think it's. As close with Manning and Brady no I don't that it really has greats that has. And there's also of a major thing for goalie vs quarterback goalie literate goalie can not win the game for you can can't score. Quarterback the better how bad the defense is we'd all that guy has the ability to to take over the game by himself. He more than a goalie does you can have the greatest game of your entire life. And you still want scoring goals quarterbacks greatest game of his entire life I get at the defense has to make at least one stop. But to me it's not the same that the best quarterback scheme of all time is going to be a win and the way the best goaltender game ball time could easily be a loss. I put a lot of value in quarterback wins a lot more then I think a lot of stats people do. Because when you go to the all time leaders and all the best statistical categories. And then you look at all the leaders in wins it's all this came guys. The guys who were the best quarterbacks. Yet defense is common goal sometimes they're great sometimes they're not so great I've looked up every year of Peyton Manning's career. It how good defense were probably we short sell some of them. That when they were really a dominant team there was some good defense is in there they come and go their up and down. And the guy ends up going a 186. And seventy. And twelve and 412 and 414 to thirteen for a mean. Double digit wins. From 2001 on double digit wins every single year until this year and he probably would have gotten there even as bad as he once this season. It's just so much of a percentage of whether you win or lose has to do with your quarterback play that. You have to put on there and that's and that's where you run into the problem with the Manning is a 186. And 79. But then the playoff record is underwhelmed. Yeah well in the playoffs you're not playing that. Jaguars and titans in you know everybody's play Africa supposed to give it wears number of the other texts. Don't mean ray. LeBron may be compared with Kobe will and Russell. Kelly and Marino. Right two guys that. Not that the rivalry is made up. David Michael get caught the moment but it's that these guys are linked whether you want them to be or not Manning and Brady. And when they play they can say you know it's it's another game but we don't play against each other it's me against the Patriots defense that Brady against the Broncos. You guys are linked because those that watch are gonna link you. Eight Israel 552 wanna chime in on how you'll remember Peyton Manning set to announce his retirement today when we get back an update on some college sports. On saint Bonaventure department chances. On Syracuse is tournament chances in which of those teams I want to get into the tournament. I'm on your side so. I'll I'll Peyton Manning I have DirecTV. No really hard which paid me and I have cable. Always great TV lets you watch NFL Sunday ticket games why all all your devices with cable I can't do that it's like. All right. Jeremy White with Matthew collar bracket college G it's college basketball championship week we'll get some Peyton Manning again on the top of the hour our first of two Winston tree is based on pay Manning. It's a retirement to be announced today so Syracuse is currently in eleven seed. In this tournament. Jolo parties bracket college has Syracuse has a lot of however Mathieu they're game against Pitt. Is by some being called an elimination game the Pitt and Syracuse are both on the bubble whoever loses is out whoever wins might give him. Saint Bonaventure according to Jolo and already right now is. In last four. And for saint Bonaventure they won their season finale. Saturday sabres game I saw formal Rachel producer and Bonnie alarm and Haeger. And I asked him and Ozzie fife Phelan. About the bodies but they closed the season very strong they beat. Saint Louis and now go to the conference tournament. So the bodies of the last four in just provided they don't. You know completely melt down on the tournament. They should be okay to get an at large bid of course they can also win the conference and assure themselves a spot. I will say I don't want this to come across as like I'm in some sort of you know mega conference jerk. I really think I'd rather saint Bonaventure gates in the Syracuse. It will mean way more of those to those. The bodies on the now solid bottom incher friends Syracuse is season has banned. Super frustrating. Every time I've watched them they've looked terrible they start of the season looked great. And and I turn on a game and it was horrible. So I stopped watching for a week or two they get on track I turn on a game they were horrible. And they're not consistent they're not good. On Saturday. Those Syracuse game was up against the sabres I was at the sabres wild game and someone asked me how could you want to savor when Syracuse is on. And my response is that every game with Trevor Cooney is meaningless because I'm just excited for him to be gone thanks for great career and you worked hard but they do drive me insane. I hope Bonaventure gates and if it comes down to the 2 I am I am orange all the way through but. I don't need them go to the tournament as an eleven seed get beat. It wouldn't be Q if they won it wouldn't be a fun story. It would be all right you know you don't have fun but for saint Bonaventure I think it be great great for them in mean a lot to lot of people represent the eight and get a couple wins do some damage in I'll have some fought so. Nobody's. Getting. Too much threat as there shake it I don't know much at most sincere C a tease me to Syracuse fans shame me for. Oh known on an audience you would much rather see. The day awesome local story with the chance for Bonaventure upsets someone. And I mean last year when UB was in. The tournament there was great energy around college basketball for that game and following that I think it will be the same thing with saint Bonaventure around here. And if you're gonna send a add Syracuse. The emphasis what's the point right Syracuse if it's not the sweet sixteen it's a failed season this is a failed season. It's not the final four it's that you know if if my team does have a chance to win the whole thing men. They're not Cinderella their disappointment to me. Go bodies and even if they do upsets someone it. Really about Sarah is like well circus pulls the way and the name we're supposedly better during the regular season that they shouldn't have happened anyway. Don't want that to happen. 8030550.
