Wow what a birthday. Halftime easel where we are back with more of that John Murphy show presented by milk so. Richard walked up. I'm not thirty what did. But John Murphy show presented by no co. Yeah official convenience store the Buffalo Bills. Welcome back to our good show with Jon Murphy show 37 by Sunoco W from Orchard Park on this Wednesday night we're here again tomorrow night 79 among our guests. Tomorrow night I'm watching them on TV right now Andrew silly Otto. From NFL network he's the host of their path to the draft show which is on every night. These guys to a great job and it's silly out though and his proof we'll talk to them about that show about NFL items tomorrow night when he joins us with a victory. Welcome you live from one bills drive. Florida NFL meetings wrapping up in a just few minutes we're gonna hear from us Rex Ryan when got a phone call schedule with camera tribal join us to recap some of the rules changes talk about some of the free agents the bills have signed and where they go from here. That's coming up just few minutes here on the show. But Brenda Corey keep down there and they're poker redundant. An interesting article posted at Buffalo News that tonight about stadiums. About Ralph look the stated in particular. Com and here's that line tickets get you know and its commissioner Roger Goodell executives at the league office and owners of other NFL teams believe it's imperative. That the bills have a new stadium they've seen as vital to the team's ability to compete in a climate where other teams are to reap the financial benefits. Newer facility provides higher prices. An additional revenue opportunities here we go again right there we go Vista went through armed. Went through this process during the sale a couple of years ago. Is Ralph Wilson Stadium all acts forty UB40 three years old this year. It's been retrofitted it's been. Refurbished it's a pretty it's a really good place of watching game right now and when the bills arrest about it Russ Brandon or even the physical as they are in no. Hurry to talk to talk about. A new us stadium for the Buffalo Bills to not to say that they're not you know long range thinking in planning and studying the issue. But I. I repeat don't like to hear other owners talk about the bill stating that. Inspectors say yeah here's here's one quote. A source with intimate knowledge of the NFL stadium situations describe Ralph Wilson Stadium was one of the three words stadiums in the league along with those in Oakland and San Diego folks. This place. It is a Taj Mahal compared to oak and it's say heck of a lot better than the stadium in San Diego. That is unbelievable it's a better stadium up quite frankly than than the Dolphins Stadium right now there really is. It's it's better it's it's not it's it's older than the Dolphin Stadium but it's certainly a better stadium it's a better stadium much better stadium by miles. Better than than Jacksonville you wanted to go through the leaked. Is that the bills have a football palace Cyrano does it measure up to MetLife stadium or the Cowboys Stadium AT&T stadium no. Do they need that right now no they do not and I just get tired of other owners. And poking at the Buffalo Bills same build a stadium built the stadium and John merode the giants misquoted Vick purchased article. And it gets tougher and tougher to compete win all these new stadiums are going up in the bills are going to be at. This at a disadvantage I think somewhat competitively. Until they get one. Okay. What what about the salary to president equalize things. That and it equalize things. Hum mayor continues I don't think insurgent like and asked him tomorrow but I think for the long term best interest of that franchise they need to be in a new building. Eagles owner Jeffrey Laurie quote in general older stadiums need to be made financially competitive it's a must. I will give you this and again I've seen I think every stadium in the league at the brand new lives in San Francisco yep. I will give you this walking around. Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis during the come by the month ago and just took a lap around buildings matter for killing time during those long boring days. And I notice how innocent Indianapolis this is not a a major you know supermarket here. This is Indianapolis I did notice how many different ways. They have managed to squeeze revenue out of every single nook and cranny of Lucas Oil Stadium I'm talking about clubs. And bars and restaurants and and meeting areas. From an unbelievable cited in the concourses. Home just were we worked. In one area where we work that was the Stanley tools that should remember that section damming the walls just plastered with. Experts Stanley tools and and each section of that stadium in Indianapolis is sort of sectioned off like that now they do it to a certain extent that your Toyota date they have the Tim Hortons gate. They do adhere to a certain extent but. Indianapolis they've got a great job and when you walk around as I did one of those days and it was Friday or Saturday. At the top buying and see all the different areas where they couldn't quite frankly. Generate revenue squeeze money out of other their fans you could see how Ralph Wilson Stadium doesn't measure up in that respect but the question is. That's because the fan base here demand that I don't think so can the fan base here a foreign debt will seek the remains to be seen looked. No it says Ralph Wilson Stadium is gonna it's pretty good forever it's not but. We are just a couple of years now what three years into the long term lease negotiated a few years back. The genius least negotiated by the bills that. And mark Paula cars and stayed in New York that had an incredible. Not relocation clause that preserve the future of the franchise here. And there's there's no urgency I don't think and and from what I'm hearing from what every time Russ Brandon the Pakula Missouri asked about it they don't feel the urgency yet. This stadium have the amenities of some of the great you know blow off some analysts agree some of the new stadium it's a league in the league know here's what it does it. Great sight lines. A tremendous a place to watch a game and maybe most importantly a great. Feel great buzz in the states. Where people are not there pain. Don't paint I mean exorbitant prices for tickets and expecting to be warm and try. And comfortable and have waitress service at their seats there's some of that Ralph both the stadium if you wanna you know if you want to upgrade and pay for you can do that you don't buy clubs see you device week. You can sit in the family club the Paul Maguire club to Jim Kelly club you get Soledad. But for the most part Ralph Wilson Stadium I think has a tremendous old school throwback feel that I knew I would be reluctant to move away from too quickly. That's all and I really really don't like to hear other owners that telling Buffalo Bills fans what what is needed here. Especially the shot time in Jacksonville that is that Djokovic stadium that is a really good to meet with the weakest link in the NFL. In the NFL firmament you know a team that's got to take its games across the ocean. And because it's fans are so disengaged. And wanna hear from shut down what we need here in buffalo of these quoted in that article. Kate did get away at any mistake that you know Randy go what to read that I really look again Ralph Wilson Stadium back gonna last forever. It's approaching now what I say. 43 years now okay. All right it's been that. It's been renovated and refurbish and fixed up. It's I think right now it's as good a place as there is in the league to watch an NFL football game is it the best place of the league's first sponsorship now. Is it the best place that'll leave for a you know and it's steak sandwich on a focaccia bread with a glass of vote. Cabernet alongside him for. Quite frankly people don't want that here in buffalo upset after you. Don't they want the atmosphere of being at a football game that we can talk anybody that goes for the to a bills game the gulf from the atmosphere. Right so. And to see their favorite game plan say that but if you're not a fan you have to bend to a bills game what do you say all you gotta go the atmosphere was unbelievable. What worries me is that they they build one of these. Grand stadiums will be changed the atmosphere the feel of a Buffalo Bills crumpled. Sure well a little changed the composition of the fan base in the stadium at some events I said the expectation drives like one out. We paid 300 dollars for the seat and a weak demand this sort of service now. You know it doesn't matter what you're seeing on TV pro football fields a football field but if you're going to the game and entertainment value. CN catering to the fans so I don't I don't understand why you have to. Had this push outside from outside influences. To build a new state. I don't either convict get a good job distancing Dicky talked a lot of the people down there at. At the owners' meeting a league officials that a big part of his of revenue the quote routine just continues to fall behind while this owner may be okay with a a future owner may not. Are we pretty much locked into the goal is having ownership of this for the foreseeable and I mean long term that would reform and they say that two years ago arming. I doubt they they're gonna know when it's time for a new stadium they don't need league officials or somebody else. The tellem when it's afternoon city marry the giants I wanna see that remain in Western New York. He's about three years two years doing it appears behind the that deal is done that ship has sailed and the last guy that should be talking about a teen remaining in New York. It's the owner of the New Jersey giants now I'm getting magic answers oath tell me you wanna see that remain in new York and then you're located played Jersey but. You wanna end practice injures you by the way. Yeah I'm sorry tigers it's just seriously really upsets me. That the ship has sailed. Here's a call I wanna get a calling your Rudy from buffalo go ahead group. Yes sir John. A long time listener first time caller on LA that thought. You keep fighting fighting the good fight like that because everything you're saying is so true it's it's almost respectable. They hear somebody like shot time they saw a money grab for somebody like camp. You're right about this stadium I've been at that stadium not that night the the plate hooked up on route well. Just wanna tell you that everything you're saying is is right on the money nice to have somebody. Say something like that it's a money grab for billionaire owners. That I have every right to make it much money is it possibly can. But some time that we like to go to a stadium that they're just watch a football game which and they'll wanna watch football game real well off. That's your verdict banks and I think you're absolutely. Spot on that's way I feel about it and quite frankly at this stage with the ownership issue settled with the stadium in good shape. With police continuing to run what seven or eight more years on the least I don't really care what the rest of the league owners think about Ralph Wilson Stadium. And now the subway fresh take top line. Subway speak fresh. The NFL's annual meeting wrapping up in Florida and joining us on the subway fresh deck top line to head coach of the Buffalo Bills Rex Ryan coach could hear from the our things in Florida this weeks. Not any good here Merck. Understand a little cold they're both well and I'm not trying to rub it I think it goes into it but it's probably a little warmer here yeah I would do well like you wait you back well. Yet. Let's talk about some of the business transacted down their first of all our rules changes all of them proposed by the competition committee. I want to ask you about that the one aspect of the roles that they didn't even get to an answer what constitutes a catch were you looking for some sort of clarification on that when you went to the meetings this year. You don't are not really I think. I have a pretty good idea that I don't know if that's all that waiting game moves so fast the ball back. But. For the ball or they look pretty darn good job but I I think. It's almost like this you know what that that the ground can't cause of all went up when I'm running back here the ball a lump they carp while. Well in a net idealist or catch. You have to survive. The gore now. With the ball that's really what the catchy it it so I think you know part of it is I think Europeans understand that it. You have to survive at the all hippie movement. And you've you've got to clearly maintain possession. You know if you hit that you may contact with the browns what they want to bands and urged him not I don't know we ever even really set that put that has always been my interpretation. Of one catchy itself. You like I think that would. Yeah I understand that but at the saint Talladega it's still harder this year. And here's another ruled that never really got addressed and it's a proposal that came from the Buffalo Bills are replay to expand it. And allow coaches to challenge yet everything wasn't addressed by the by the owners or at least wasn't a approved by the owners. Can you talk about your feelings on that and why the bills propose that in and where you think you're going with a. Well and all of our fans. You know. Well say about last year mean how many times that it Khobar where. A critical situation we get the duchess AA passed an affair. In London on against the Jacksonville Jaguars may be your. Well lately and it will bring that up I'm not sure glad. Had we the replay we clearly whatever you know we clearly would challenge that. Ed is it would've brought up or that whatever twelve or so like that. You know and it clearly whether Karachi game and got out of ought really put some typical situation obviously. You know it may very well affect the outcome of the game so I while we're just proposal that too. Could get it right is not what we want your rights whether official makes a mistake. Or. You know something else we wanna get that call right. Bill also two times last year. We're played a team would Tyrod. Wanna make of it ER run for a touchdown called back on a totally picture of the bid called. We get the next day and then another one group we never thought it was a penalty. That was all the that we had another one worried Eagles touchdown pass that and you know Richie gets it to the a penalty that that should have been called out he's probably gonna chop block. Clearly it was obvious that he did not do that. That's 21 game. That that sort of affected. Entire outcome of the game so we'll debate that we were trying to Q. It elections get it right I think everybody wants it divided the Tibet he. You don't that particular day you know you want that big win. In. Whether an official get the call right war. You know some other challenge that that we can do then. I think if the coach you have that liberty and have veto challenge holes play. Now I'll. Doug Whaley we talked on the other night about it and he said it's probably not gonna get past but he thought and in outlook and the patriots have proposed as in the past two. He thought that at least at the dialogue on an annual basis that maybe eventually some years they'll look at it you think that's the direction it's going and. I think so I think it'll gain traction. Or longer we do it or purchase a product. That you gain traction I think from a fan perspective you wanna get it right only respect there's always been that. It but it just never really pertain to an official. You know what officials call so this would be an opportunity hey look that work out doubles coaches cowboy players. This might bridge and accounted. Accountability to the officials that you know you through you you thought well enough it toward the flag. In that all the sudden it's a mistake things happen humans you know we made mistakes but. You know what did the call right. And I think hopefully this thing will gain some traction. But you're right as Doug and I talked about we we don't expect the past but hopefully it will be extraction. The wrecks they did of proof a couple of changes including allowing coaches up in the Booth to speak directly to the players cornerbacks and linebackers or whomever. On the field what do you think of that movie and in howl that impact the way you guys operate more. Lot of that it'll impact us so let's Greg Roman wants to go up top. You know it seems like yeah. Most opposite corners fielders and advantage quality people bought op. Hasn't been great. You know that's that that's really how he feels about it. But I know there are some some coaches that fielders with a bandage up there. My biggest thing was like. How can be communication be better if it's Barack instead of being on the ground but I guess technologies come. You know that was kind of our biggest fear that if if that thing goes out it's not YouTube which it dwindles calls so. That was kind of what we got in in why we really have that's signal caller on the field but. There are some he's apparently that that deal up in the media the boxes would go. They've made the extra point lined the move to the fifteen yard line it was temporary last year it's permanent now I assume you're OK with that I. Yeah I'm OK with it obviously last year would agree the world as they say it is WP best picture seven. Extra points last year. The percentage was 94%. With even you know with the new one they use B 99% of action points were made last year. It was by the foreperson so work ethic that was made it more a charge of foresee perhaps the best like signal so. You know let you know I I believe it won't you know I think we'll adjust the value of yes I think. You know I was against that quite honestly your before. But now I think as part of an I think what you used to it. It you know just part of the game I like the idea that the that it could score. It's well. You know where that age just be a good play. So you know that it's. You know I candlelight. And lastly Rex. Horse collar tackles illegal and and it's it's sort of strength in the gets that probation on horse collar tackles. What do you make of that and in how does that impact at all argued teach technique for tackling her. What you expected in the field. No not really I mean it's always really that they about the horse collar tackle it's not just the grab and the back of the collar. It's really when you roll your body into the late. Of the running back whoever thought on the football that's what creates the entry but we're also trying to say it's a target appreciate. The difference between the nameplate or literally grab on the horse you don't grab the the the back of you know the collar and so they're basically saying it's hard to determine the difference. But the result that would try to protect the players try to get that that pack a lot of games. It the biggest example they used on. Was would Tyrod Taylor. Ran for that percent against Tennessee where they grabbed him. By the back it's called a horse collar so. You know we do that number one priority is protect the players. And the number two but you know the integrity of the game so. That's open you know you wanna take wage dangerous place get them out and you know that is just another way I think it's easier to appreciate. And the other thing is just protect quarters. Ride the subway fresh takeout lebed bills head coach Rex Ryan from the NFL annual meetings in Boca Raton. He refs let we haven't talked yet in a couple of weeks and since that last time we talked the bills are made a couple of additions by created he can you talk tell us about Robert Blanton the safety that you acquired from Minnesota what you like about him and how you see impartially fitting in here. Well I really like Robert Blanton these young man out of notre it. Where about when he came out I was I was hi I am because that body vessels cover skills bank cover skills. You submit a variety wage place and Satan played some corner sort thank you you know out of a ball fatalities kids. Very competitive guy Smart there so I pick up excited he'd give him here and get good sides. So I think having Robert you let them compete. You don't right now company officially currently serves Thursday. As I look at them you know obviously behind Arabic or. But you know I think younger could have occurred have a great opportunity weapons. You know that was the main paper that he chose us because we opportunity yet to get on the field that bout. You know so we're excited out. You signed a blocking tight end Jim Frey what he can you tell us about him. Well what was what we need to be you know obviously coaches young man. When he was at Stanford so we carry adding yet. You know he really do about the history where Pope so I don't look for blocking tight end and that's really what a year it was not get a. He always going to be the the Charles player run about a field of people quote correct for that. You know. As a receiver but he's a yep big blocker he's capable receivers so. You know we're we're happy to have him. And basically. He had that you would Greg stopped and it is not an easy that's why aren't I think gonna help him and help us. All we spoke with Doug Whaley the other day Rex he talked about how. The door still open for Percy Harvey and and he expected to know something in the next week or so as to whether Hartman wanted to try to return Ned what your take on that and and what are you waiting to hear what you need to hear from Percy Harvey and if he's gonna come back. Well I think first they've figured that the healthy and you know I think that's going to be the big issue. It bit the availability understand that we don't have anymore you know like that it's you know about that part of the well. But it becomes if you understand those. You know back. Then I actually break virtually back you know personal what we 01 a couple of usually is helping. And or going over five or six games this year it up unfortunate but I think bill France saw that or he's healthy person the big difference maker of then you know. Provided him with Al that we are we have a healthy Robert Woods is going to be good for our football team. And then obviously have a every walk that we all more incendiary than. And you know what what Charles clay that that's excitement lead. That that's going to be a good group let it Percy yeah it gets you know he comes back to us than absolutely. The I'd be happy to have back. Lets us know you spent a lot of your time over the last few weeks since the combine that with the pro days looking at talent in fact I think you're. Down south going into the immediate Gregory you're you're Richie Georgia may be Clemson down their look at the talent how's that go for it. Yeah I want well. You know there's obviously I would look at had a lot of say what specifically will look at that some of the seat but the balance. Ed you know that that was really rise my main focus was. For the trips that you mention. He had you know it's good sometimes when you when you see him on grass it's at this with these kids. Well thank you. You have a pretty good idea they are public health. Maybe what they need to improve on things. And then luckily I'm familiar with a lot of coaches. You know when it's like get the real the real insight who blood that you thought this lawyer that lawyer so. Suppose that's helpful well. One more thing I read where you're gonna changeup Europe your player scheduled during the regular season and give players. Tuesdays off instead of Monday's which he did last year why why you make that change wrecked. That's puppet that we did all of my career how I grew up it is quite costly works a lot better for beauty. In my preparation. As far as. Being involved heavily in the Benson did plenty of things. It's much better from the basic games yet you know two days of preparation done before. You put your plan together. This subtle what kind of shored that up a day. It works well for some coaches but it didn't is did not work well for me being a coach he had. Eight. It's somebody that significantly involved. Nor the defense. So I guess it'll work out a lot but I also works a lot better from it's bad for the players the players. Happen you know coming up money you digitally they do all that put the game behind yet that you all the way to win and put the game behind yet. So I think that there have been at that as well in your. Eritrea to rehab work at all or they the practice on Wednesday so. I think that you know work with that. It's much better for the players it by piggy we tried it this way there's a lot of people wonder that. But I think for us it definitely worked out better. Go back there haven't been traditional Tuesday talked. All right well gonna be here refer we know what coaching you got the offseason workouts beginning just about a month away were looking forward to a thank you for spent a little time of the tonight give it your thoughts on the meetings in Florida we appreciate it. Well I can't way you met with the pregnancy than that so we got a lot of positive things. Obviously the draft is critical for us but. Weren't great hands you know led by yes Doug Whaley. Did you most of things that I just truly believe that. You know we although we want but we're gonna work Arafat's office to get it right this year it and I'm excited about the direction murky. Thanks coach we appreciate it. Thank you head coach Rex Ryan built bills that coach Rex Ryan and the line from the annual meetings he had a belly annual meeting to Boca Raton Florida. Coach joint is by the subway fresh take by subway fresh we've got more to come to John Murphy Joseph presented by no go from one bills drive on buffalo. If I'm Buffalo Bills sports update how. Brought you might yet he says he's New York's parties in cheese. I'm sure producer. NFL league meetings wrapped up down in Florida. To rule proposals passed by the competition committee on Wednesday. First up automatic rejections for any player flag with two unsportsmanlike conduct falls in one game. Now that includes throwing a punch former kitten opponents using abusive language and or twenty. The other deals with kick off the starting placement for the offense following a touchback it's been moved up five yards to the 25 yard line. Couple these rules will be treated I think when you spin it. It final proposal from the bill that was passed today. Teams now do not need designated specific player to turn off injured reserve leaving more flexibility and who can return from a car. Once that players six week timetable expired and he's ready to practice from ten to return action at that point. Instead of having to be designated pride. Commissioner Roger Goodell confirming that there will be no changes in the discipline for the patriots involvement in the deflated football star got. Patriots owner Robert Kraft wrote a letter that the commissioner hoping that any new evidence would help in overturning the league's decision. To no avail in the wings still without the 2016. First round pick it. While Los Angeles rams will be featured on this years HBO's hard and looks the training camp documentary series that the air and early August. As rim make your transition to their new home. Well what it's holograms are also in the works to play a regular season game in China come 2018. The Los Angeles Times reporting that the rams who represented. Home team it's all part of the teams packed to play three international games over the next three years LA will host a game in London in 2016. First John it's one more at a film out saints head coach Sean Payton announcing he's agreed to a five year contract. To remain at the Helm reports that appealed to keep Peyton one of the highest paid coaches. In the league. If I knew from baseball Alex Rodriguez announcing today that he will retire following the 2017. Season. When his contract with the Yankees worked out which is part of a ten year 275. Million dollar deal he signed before the 2008 season. We're back with more of that John Murphy geo on Buffalo Bills radio. And now the subway fresh take hotline. Subway deep fresh. Not a lot to talk about tonight we've talked about the rules changes all night long and joining us on the subway fresh take outline our go to guy for rules changes he's the man behind a website. Football zebras dot com is the arc is the author of the book. So you think you know football about NFL rules happy to have been a struggling to describe Ben are you tonight. Sean what it would stop and guess what sicker here we go again right with a whole new set of rules they have had a week might invite listeners Libya comments or questions for Ben now's the time to form an 803. 0550 the number or outside buffalo toll free at 188855255. Do we with a through another. Ten minutes or so a the lot of rules changes talk about I wanna ask your wanna start anyway with the rules change that did not happen late last year. The NFL talked about appointing this blue ribbon commission to look into the catch no catch after all the uncertainty all the frustration. They didn't do anything about it Ben what happened. Well at this time last year I was telling you that deeply care trolls seem to be pretty much where it should be and and I know it did get a little bit of push back from from a lot of your listeners. This past season I think that they've gone a little too far I think that they. Kind of corrupted the role in in reaction to that as Bryant no catch. Two years ago and you know league European bland you know thinks that he's got what he wants. In every place situation for catch no catch and and they kind of pinned it down there. But now you're seeing things that. You know we would ordinarily file it under all the football move or connect come into the game things could have been in the rule book for. Decades and now you're seeing that goes to being over written for catch solid guy for the end zone a deliberate dive as opposed to a player who's falling. A deliberate target for that that goal line while that can be considered going to the ground and and they're gonna overturn that and replied it wasn't that way two years ago. Dez Bryant catch is still not a catch but is it now starts when they are a lot more plays and making them non catches. It's it's just profits it makes it a frustrating you know for fans let's get this summit via rules changes that did dictate play this would that take place this week. And one of them and I need your thoughts on this. I chop block what is the definition of a job but because. I do think there is some confusion out there and as of now as of the points sixteen season all chop blocks will be illegal what they refer to them. Wolf for the most part they've up to now they've they've removed the chop block on passing plays and the idea behind that is that you have different direction going on the play. And so a player's gonna is that defender is going to be hit high and low simultaneously by two different players. And and it causes injury. This was left left in place for a lot of running plays because the flow of the plate tends to. Create situations where you have high low blocks not through any action of any of the players and because. Everybody is in the same direction of flow and you don't have. Two different directions weren't warned is coming from one direction then going to the other direction because of the past. Everybody's traveling in the same direction I've I've heard from officials that say how are they gonna run the ball as if they're gonna eliminate all chop blocks. So it definitely can present a challenge to the offensive line on running plays. All animals see how tightly they they do call that I I'd sure that there are some. Things and therefore in the certain situations where player falls into to another. Player but we're have to see what the final final rule. Is gonna look like and that'll probably be finalized around June July. Just to make sure that they don't get any unintended consequences in the rule that they pat. And I wanna make sure I'm clear on this when we talk about chop blocks that you need to offensive lineman to be involved. We're not talking about cut blocks which it involves the alignment essentially diving low right those are legal although they may be questionable right. Right and and the one that art that tend to be illegal are the ones that involve one player. Are when the direction they're going toward your goal line. And that in this case say they chop block does involve two players the high low block does the second block. The lower block has to be. Delivered. That the fire below. And and so essentially you're engaging the it defender and into areas and and that causes knee injuries particularly. When we have it disproportionate weight on on to end. And I'm like I said I'm running plays you know there's a lot of mixing up and a lot of more and around and and and these things can happen you know just organically not as part of I deliberate. Up down block. That he would see on pass play and India there's only one exception to a chop block where you would we we see if found. Only if one player is involved and that's if you kind of lure a player entity engaging them high and and somebody it comes in the sweeps and look. Essentially even knows no contact they're considering that high low block but in this case all of them are off the table the role of legal. We're on the line with bed Astro from football's keepers dot com the author of the book. So you think you know football talked about unintended consequences many of us we discuss this on our show earlier tonight I wonder if the more over the touchback line after kickoffs. To the point five yard line instead of the money. Might have the exact reverse. In conclusion that the league was trying to get what do you think now is it gonna play out. What think that's what the owners were thinking and that's why don't we only have the pin for one year at the trial could they want to be able to come back next year I think now it didn't work out. No Rich McKay the head of the competition committee he always run the numbers on some of these things and and in this case it's pretty much laid out there they have. 87% of the kickoffs wind up in the hands down. Two thirds of those are touch backs which means 13 or are returned after the and the on this and you know when they could be a touchback. So a third doesn't seem like a lot but. They're looking at that 723. Optional returns in in the air look it the way they look at. So they wanted to see that number go down. Less than a third of of them be returned in the end and option touch back now and go back to that 87% if they see that that there. Kicker is doing some sort of skill shot in the Al. There at 80% are getting into the hands down low and that they're gonna see that unintended consequence in the numbers will bear that out. Fairly well I think they just go look and see are we having less. Kicks reached the end zone. And if that's the case then and I don't see it lasting for more than a year. And I really don't think it I see what they're trying to do in the and they did try to in the Pro Bowl where they. Took out the kick off entirely and just set up shop at the 25 yard line. So they use that to let you pro bowls to try and figure out you know it 25 good starting point. And so that was what drove that the 25 yard line and in the latest. And yeah I think that's what's gonna happen teams are gonna. Are not going to be willing to give up those extra five yards are gonna try to get the blue put kicker get hang Tammany kicked and then try to pin him inside the twentieth they can't. And it's duo it seems like there. Often corner for your punter he valued do you think they're going to be drilling vessels all during training camp. What mark if you do get through before we take a phone call for you vent and that is the yum. The unsportsmanlike conduct files the second offense on a yet. Prescribed unfortunately kind of fell results in ejection what do you think of that role and what do you think of the possibility of teams. Trying to debate opponents and picking up that second unfortunately conduct file. Well certainly. You know with interest then how does this seem to evolve if it is not a reaction to the oh they'll back him Josh Norman. Dust up that they had in week fifteen. That. You know and will hit personal fouls and I think what's gonna happen in that arena is that when when these officials that showing join up together for their clinic in in June. They're gonna start to tighten down look we need to be a little bit more. On the personal fouls I'm calling the objection because the language is there in the rule book is just the degree of enforcement. When it comes sitting unsportsmanlike foul. I don't really see. Too much of a prevalence of the other worldly to this situation this past season. One of them involved. At player Esther Esther a late hit out of kept Jordan with the officials. Picked up two unsportsmanlike conduct thousands same. In the same dead ball period. So he would have been caught in that case that was Brian Orakpo. That other one seems to be hit or miss but it. If there were only two instances from last season doesn't seem to be anything. That would precipitate a an injection. And I'm on top of that the one that were actually the physical ones that they're really crossed the line there were only three injections all season last year and now. You know I think that they want to see that that happens a lot more often based on the personal far outnumber personal felt the cold. The caller on the line with the question Urbana Austro Allen from Donna wanna go ahead Allan what's on your mind. A guy that particular call that your I want what you come on I'm judge you know he always does great if you're at a certain I'm thinking that what I wanted to propose kind of a our best idea might have had for awhile good advocates to park. I've always wondered why the Republican Mitt Benedict College in the aspect of course helped that you work volatile war although one port involved. It would allow the NFL or more acrobatic has to showcase the often I don't that we have. It with certain rules currently trip predators not being able. I hear or defenseless receiver. I think it would rarely works and we see more of the ultra low that we all are craving you would it ago that. Losing. Well it definitely. The other would certainly favor of the offense. You know it is a balance that they tried to strike him and usually it does favor the offense. But I think in in this particular case. The NFL trying to step itself well up as a plateau above. College and say you know hey pick pro catch is that. And you know one foot in you know you could probably capital put him down and and you know we've seen juries do that a few times where he testify of foot and and and it's a force out and you know he gets the benefit of the doubt and now today those those colts would be incomplete so I I think it's it's become this. And is this evolving from. Pushing against the defensive backs now they're pushing against the receivers hey you've got to do more kick to get your catch. And for them we've. Develop that process of the catch a little bit more and and it seems like they've anchored it down I I'm not sure how much more than gorilla in the tinker with it in the off season. But. And as far as getting one put down in bounds I really don't think the that belief gonna move. To pivot point it's more of you know to treat them about the pro catch. Again we were got less than a minute here but I've wondered what you make of the decision to table. The ravens briefly that suggestion. That all plays would be to eligible with the exceptions a lot of exceptions but they yell what do you make of that what do you think's gonna. Suddenly had that discussion because it was being discussed at length that the owners meeting apparently. And and the fact that they they reserve that one proposal and that they're gonna go back the competition committee can go back and rework that. I don't think that they're gonna look at the three challenges I don't think we're gonna look at under two minutes are overtime but they're. Keying in on those on those exceptions and basically they are. Pretty much hands penalties holding illegal use of hand illegal contact defense of an offense to pass an appearance. And unsportsmanlike conduct is also looked at and amp but. Pretty much intact group but now you're earning it and things like a late hit out of bounds. Even you know he might be able to pull perpetrators out of the fight and and they all of this one's guilty of I was out of foul here I can and should be ejected. So I think the competition committee is looking at. What this is gonna do with it and they instead of creating here's our list of review mobile plays it's going to be. Here's our list of non renewable plays which dish that that is short list. And then pretty much opened it up to any any kind of interpretation. They're really gonna have to work that out but it does seem that there is support that from the owners that. The other coaches want to have more control they want to see that the calls being made and being able to challenge calls when they feel that they don't go. According to. Shortly at least what they think aren't called properly. They banned the book so you think you know football available at. MSN dot Amazon.com and bookstores and where else can people find the book.
