Have bat. Deployed three wood girl. WGR Sports Radio 550 for six sports talk Saturday. It's not as cut and dried as it's been made out to be in the media in your pentium releasing there's a third way. And maybe you can find what I've thoroughly enjoyed my time that's been with Tyrod in the month and a half I've been there and you know it's been really fun to watch his work ethic. I respect that and and in the number of games that he wants this organization two years you're dealing with a quarterback that's a little shorter than desirable that doesn't have a big guard. He's athletic clearly. He's not a big time anticipation thrower with is something that is always problematic the more you play in the league I think is accuracy is probably a little erratic and ball placement of up and down but we know what years. But the question you really asking is how connect kind of quarterback to win in the NFL that's what you're really yet. On WGR. Sports Radio finds fifty. Rarely heard from a need but you got Bill Polian was in there yup you heard from Sean McDermott is McConnell or odd Greg cosell from dumber you show yesterday. So they go. Welcome to sports talk Saturday in abbreviated version of sports talk Saturday what we have at 1230 we've got up bandits covered trip it's covered just right afternoon bandits coverage here. And to be GR starting at 1230 so we will bring you com bind. Slash. Some sabres pregame coverage of the sabres take on the Tampa Bay Lightning this evening from keybank arena. Keating center. Correct quote the the the sabres the other home against the odd that the home against Tampa Bay Lightning the night and bandits there in Rochester take on the night hots for one so little nine the action the I nine the lacrosse ol' yeah yeah when I don't actually have a rivalry that would have to probably ask our colleague Dave Buchanan if they actually have a name for that rivalry yet they should does that mean it's a good rivalry. I mean I think I think. Buffalo played Rochester last night and beat them for their third trait little home and home death. Oklahoma at home and home actually you can hear that starting at 1230 right here on WGR following sports talk Saturday. Like I said at 1230 let's head down to Indianapolis now. Where sell pot trio joins me and the AT&T hotline sale. We we got snow. I thought that you know the wind her strip was over but we got some snow how's the weather in Indy. Compared to what we're dealing with right now. Voted no snow here about the middle so cold it has been but it is a warm up they actually I think again I cities. And and it may be around sixty tomorrow so this week are going to be pretty nice weather but no snow here at all. Well lucky you sell way we're dealing with snow again but that's our rights we officially. Exactly one week away. From the bills essentially being forced to make their decision on Tyrod Taylor in his contract future picking up his option moving on for the next two years with Tyrod Taylor. Obviously you know it's been a few days here you've probably had some time to decompress think about and I'm sure talk about it life. About some of the reports that have been buzzing around really. It just seems like a whole heck of a lot of speculation sale but I wanted your thoughts. And I you know maybe the week that has banned leading up to this. Actual first week going into this Tyrod Taylor decision of some of the reports that have been going around maybe you can debunked and or you know confirm some of these reports but. Really I'm more interested in hearing your opinion and maybe what this decision ultimately could mean for this team moving forward. Well first of all I think the only thing I can confirm it no one really knows anything so anything to anybody read their ears or whatever. I would not trust any particular report right now I'm still really expect coming out you'll know you know went. When you have a report that's being backed up by others and things like that that's when you get certainly that way when you have one. Reporter out there saying one thing that another forcing another thing because there's been so much about that. And I can tell you I mean I am I got boots on the ground an unpopular people and I could tell you. The builder not leaking any information right now what to do with Tyrod Taylor and believe me trust me there are many people put myself trying to find out. From as many sources as we can with the gonna do and they are not doing that so any time you read. They report lake you know and hey I've made my feelings clear on you know due to lack of force reporting in the build over the last few I don't think it's been. Particularly accurate although you know I understand that he you know it pretty plugged in in this league so I'm not dismissing a lot of things that he says neither they could come true but when I read. We're public chasm developing within the organization look they're they're going to be differences of course they're going to be differences. And the people in the organization out what to do with tyra just like there are with any other player I don't care who it is going to be people who say. Keep this guy cut back guys paid it's I don't pay that guy that's always gonna happen and it happens look we work in. Place that we have what ten people maybe you know on the air and I'm sure that we disagree on things that's what happens. No matter what company here in people to have disagreements about public debt so that said there are always going to be those things happening I would not at all from anything I know. Characterize anything it's going out of the chasm or some sort of divide between. Ownership and profit or as coaches and things like that I think it's all that people like that are doing. That is pretty much feeding into what has already been the case because hey why not add to the bill today and whoever one's going to believe that they still are. What this fickle what decision to make Ito it would mean if you click or right I mean obviously had a big impact on what they do in the draft first and foremost. Sell you know to go back to this lock and four report obviously the the front office the coaching staff it seems are are at bay against each other and are pinned up against other that's at least. The report one side the front office wants to potentially move on where's the coaching staff feel a little more compromise moving forward with Tyrod Taylor. Do you think that. Potentially there any of the media may get this is hey if they move for Tyrod Taylor or if they don't. Whose ultimate decision this card turns out to be or. Either way is are the bill's going to spend the says this is they organizational decision not one party had the final say over and I'll. Global let it happen there's going to be look at the matter what have. Happened there's going to be someone in the media comes out as well look who won that battle the yeah why they get to this do we can say that they won out. And I'm here to tell you that every. They would not have hired Sean McDermott would not have signed on for the job knowing Tom McDermott that we have got an ailment people I've talked to who you know John McDermott a lot more than I've known them. I can tell you would at a site on this job if they're cute he didn't understand the process that he was gonna go through with Doug really to determine what to do it Tyrod Taylor and I believe it. They're still weighing all of their opted for sure here's what they think. I could think about where they might be on the same page. I think that everyone would rather have Tyrod. It if if he's going to be back if he's going to be back it would all committee that get a different number so that they can do other things on the red cap. I don't care that the coaching staff who wants summer probably doesn't whatever. I think they all can agree on if we're gonna have a bet we'd rather have him back in different numbers that's why I think this might be taking so long because. I think they maniac either restructure or something like that now. Of course when it's all said and done they're gonna say it's an organizational thing and that's what they do that but every team does but I'm here if I don't. And let that I don't necessarily disagree that it didn't. It might be at it might need it and finally they're just you're just basically trying to figure out the best approach possible I. I don't see me in any way as people just getting over the table staring at each other yelling at each other at this I don't think they would have got. I don't think that coach would have taken a job or we of would have gotten that are with and the and Doug Whaley at everybody go to the meeting that month that have been if that was the case. Ours obviously you're an Indianapolis and were covering the com bind this weekend. I yesterday was the real all I guess first day of actual work outs. Safeties in running backs amongst offensive linemen as well but. For all intents and purposes you know at least for bills fans sake. Looking at the safety position you actually broke down some of the safeties yesterday or I think it was yesterday at least with John ledger of inside the pile on you can actually check that out at WGR 550 dot com there's a a short two minute 32 video you and John do little bit of breaking down and I'm interested. In in in some of the scheme fits here when you're looking at the top two safeties or how states Italy Coker. And Ellis used to mall Adams interesting that John thinks that bleak hooker really is the ultimately the basket here for Sean McDermott's. Defense summit like a center fielder type. But I'm interested to hear your thoughts on both of those guys and how they testy yesterday and while obviously Lee Coker not testing because of it and an injury to his shoulder but. He ultimately will be a very I assume top ten pick this year. Potential that either one of these guys all the bills attack and how serious do you think Doug Whaley and the bills would really be looking at a safety attend. Over well I. I think hooker the best fit for the bill that bars that keep that but got back. Actually doesn't at Booker in the top two yet in the thirtieth with a thicker than for Q while speculative interstate until he actually had he says. He Hadley poker as a guy that you evidence big board let's say in the teens. I'm however and I both agree. That comes a if you're just talking about it and how good a guy as we get fit your scheme Molly Tucker that guy he's a true center fielder he's a ball off. So I look. McDermott gonna report Christine. It can run a cover three and if you're gonna recover three you know you better have somebody who can play center field and that's just the way it is. And bully cooker of the best center fielder. Of this group safeties and he's a really really phenomenal athlete and he's a super good football player so he could be justified taking it number pat. Jamal atoms. He can certainly be justified taking at number ten because. He doesn't have the coverage ability necessarily that would hooker has he could add it. He's got great like Emily Tucker I would think at the talent level was great at it but he's also much better coming down in the box being more physical in the you probably closer to the white scrimmage. Would of baker and other guys that you could probably. Do a lot of different things you know he can appeal to drop back he could be on the cover as well but I believe lately Coker would that the vast split. I would pay the bills. Took Jamaal atoms that number and that would be a great football player to get I mean it out of that you're kind of got split hairs here on you know trying to pick. Pick them apart I think the good news that Sony. But credible there had. At least comic dirt can say. Well that's the guy I want because of schemes that like Arafat he he had actually it's not like comic outlets of equated. Oh yeah the fact it's better for what I want that would ultimately got free agency they get a I think you'll get it circular type position and say OK now we can get a guy like Jamal atoms to bring it in Europe don't eat that so I think a lot to be determined but. I do willingly Coker is. The better team that right now for the build I would be OK would either of those two this is a good safety draft. Other some high end talent like it would baker there as well so it accurately -- this morning. Measured in at cal over six or just good. Yes 61 on 61 and some change at Nicholas. That's right the ones I mean that's that's good enough regatta as that. That are pillar ability if you're gonna be sick ones that have indicated by the way he was also is phenomenal high school basketball player. I think come out thought it was on my right who said people were actually surprised he chose football or basketball to go to the division one level that's a great an athlete he has. Sale let's stick with the safety position and if you've been paying attention that a lot of the national media at least on Twitter yesterday it really seemed that Jibril peppers. He took over my time line for like a good two hours yesterday about everybody talking about where he fits now. I seen in mock drafts too broke operas go as high as five to the Tennessee Titans and I've seen him fall out of the first round completely I think there may not be more polarizing player. In this draft at any position about. What to do and where this guy goes he. They're just seems to be this narrative that power. Peppers may be a more natural linebacker fit if he can gain some weight at the next level what are your thoughts on peppers in May be where he fits and up to potentially go. Come draft. I don't really ease he is really kind of in the level or if they really don't know I think gum he's the ultimate winner he really is. I don't see Emmett and every down safety don't seem that every linebackers certainly equity two small linebacker. India about that level and I think anybody who just says like oddity because while political player like I think that APEC can be said about a lot of guys acute but those kind of guys. They need to be put in systems were everybody else it's perfectly as well and you can kind of move their morale we've you're relying on him to do what linebackers have to do I doubted a basis. That's not good that's not a good bet that that we're able longer line and it on him to do what they eat you wanna down without basis that's not good so you. Look at eligible fiber optic might seem any day. I can't put him on the field all three down and left I got basically nine or ten other guys around him that. Absolutely fit perfectly in that position I can move him a little bit and I can do something I don't know what can organize different. He really is a wildcard in the strap you they get it you may get a defense. Immediately got an old Carol says that the kind of guy really want to say I wanna get a first Robby you've been in my defense. Because you know he can figure out ways to use them you can get team that they cannot touch that guy because I don't I can't put that in any water in my feet and I think that's going to be really interest things. Yes I I've actually heard comparisons of Troy Polamalu. And I and I think that's a lot of people are making that comparison and then drawing the conclusion that. A guy like it like Tennessee where you have. Now his name's escaping me did doled defensive cord a about right. Is that is that it's a ridiculous idea focus a Dick LeBeau former Pittsburgh steeler. On defense according to for a real long time now in Tennessee so everyone's making that assumption that they're gonna go after a guy like him because I got the comparison but I agree sell it it's one of those things where. You really need every you'd it has to be eighteen to me later in the first round who has everything else on defense who's looking for the kind of guy just to supplement as you mentioned in pat. Packages or in in a role opposed to this guy's gonna be the savior of our defense and I think that's really an all merely be a. Figured I would get the first round keeping it goes first round you know it's a luxury panic I I that's right I generally want him deeply re down. And nobody doing for a. Are tell running back position they also tested yesterday when you think helped themselves the most yesterday there's a lot of talk about Stanford's Christian McCaffery. You know in amateurs to to hear your thoughts on him and if he's the guy that really helped himself the most. We certainly help and felt a lot I would think maybe the most. But I mean let's be honest. Christine McCaffrey a lot of them not come from the color of his skin I think you play any running backs of people don't think that he can play in this league which I think is about a garbage I think Richard McCaffery. Is going to be a good football player and I don't think he's gadget player I don't think he's just spread offense player he expects any system like that you know you want it would have been made between the tackles running. Yeah I got a last long as I with. You know but what I don't think you've got to just make in the third down back because news flash. Pretty much every down in the NFL a third round out a correct me if that's what scene do I mean you run you run an offense click your running third almost every player in the league also. At a Christian McCaffery. He looks coach who kept in the football to be a popular actor he ran well. You know he's a really good ballplayer I think letter warned that the questions about his way to forty. OK so what he would do on the forty now B 240 I did that I could look. If he runs a good forty he's fine like that's great if he doesn't run position that we know trying to they'll try to be a little bit later treaties for his pro yeah. Given that now he didn't he he read a 451. I mean early as the Q Elliott was legal or vice. 449 maybe year or eight he's right there right there and he's bigger than him and so he's he's part. I think you broke peppers is really. I'm I'm sorry I think it's a letter port at the guy that it's gonna be they could be either pre heat an emigrant vertical foot. I don't know that really matter any regular thing a thing about letter Puerto. Talk about three linebackers he looks super uncomfortable catching the ball faster but he looked like he was he looked legacy fighting the ball and I don't know if Donald do you take them because you're gonna and catch a pass out of the backfield to duplicate and think about you know that is that what you're doing with another it's the kind of guy that. If you want if you're at a team it's going to be a one cut seemed to get a guy downhill obviously he's the perfect. But he can still run and any scheme because he doesn't speak. Yet he does remind be of more of first and second down back then when you look at McCaffrey is almost the exact opposite where yet McCaffery. Who looks so comfortable coming out of breaks it. You could make the case that if if a team really didn't like the prospects of McCaffery moving forward at the running back position that he would have a very easy transition into a slot type receiver. No problem when you look at for not though I think you're right. He seems to be the kind of guy that flight sitting even in college that was some of the criticisms. Of port that is that he just didn't look comfortable as a receiver out of the backfield and ultimately I think that might hurt him but I interest itself this is I would say. Over the past few years may be the deepest at the top anyways. Taylor wide at the running back position we've seen in a few years. Although now as we've here all the time. That the running back position is sort of obsolete is that you can find a really good run to nick asks Atlanta where you can if you can find really good running backstage to Indy three they got to Obama a date to Indy three. That our Stotts so yeah. Three the top three running backs this year I think you make the case or first round picks how ever you think three for an next on first from Asia. Yeah I probably am delicate for the right. How do you not take all the Coke in the first round. I guess that and then we you're number three right or talk them DiCaprio here yeah I think I think every got Eamon. So I think it team that you got to think who's who strap and at the end of the first round teams that are good this. Don't happen to put it necessarily on the field the start of relief teams that are already in a position so I could see. I think it look obviously we all know that the links have been made their between it and Bill Belichick and the patriots they get a guy like McCaffery because he tries he does think guys. Like that that you need to use all around that you'll love those you. Athletes that just been but I I think you're probably looking at three you might he might appear that jumped in the first round to do that or something like that I mean although I will say that. I I just as much the last few years is that you know a running back you know you can get him later the draft but let's do we feel they have found what do we think we've seen it. The ship our defense to smaller hybrid players so what happened over the last year or so two years. Offenses have gone back to trying to pound the ball a little bit more those smaller defense does which is why you get the drop but supply with the raiders and the cowboys and the cowboys suddenly. As the Q Elliott nobody can stop them. I think the bills were good example that any good. Often the widening of great running back LeSean McCoy but they can take advantage of teams that are a little bit later you know on the deep at the side of the ball so I do think you're seeing. A bit of a philosophy you have everything is cyclical in this league may end up its vehicle back immediately running backs being more important because of how deep understructure indeed that is their later now. Yet no in what are reminds me of is it's when everyone zagging you zig you know it everyone's loading up. Small faster players defensively. You load up with some bigger often sublime with a bigger running game and you you combat that. By switching your your schemes around and I mean it it's one of those things that make the draft so interesting how guys fit. But sale there's also some news you I think it came out yesterday and Twitter I saw. Alabama's Rubin Foster he was sent home out he's likely the top linebacker at least interior linebacker that's going to be taken. In April. Did you hear about what happened or anything down there that's being kind of rumor around that there seem to be an altercation with. Hospital worker but I'm not exactly sure the story leading up to at the Howe Wayne why it was a hospital. I don't know people notice when the when the prospects for get here. They go to a local hospital to get a re examination they have to make sure that they're located on the field and do everything that happens all the time everybody. Let's long process and back some of the some of the prospects told us yesterday that you know they knew they have been told and warned they do you ought. They realize how long reach some guys said they were they're having ample by PS doing everything going from hospital to. Some meetings and pressing so it's a long ways and what happened was apparently orbit roster was at the hospital. He was waiting to be there it was taking him longer than he was there was holder. What he expected or whatever and he started getting a little bit agitated and he said the legal hospital worker in the hospital worker barked back and and suddenly they were they got confrontational he got face to face it was a heated exchange. The NFL step then in the NFL animal. I don't necessarily sale think that that hurts. Him in any way because like is that he is the top guy but. That's just not a good look for anybody whether you're the top guy or you're a guy that this is essentially sell. An interview a job interview this is how teams learn more about your mental make up not just your forty times you're sitting in front of you know you're sitting at front essentially company CEOs. Telling them why they should expend resources to bring you to their team so I. That is just it's not only a bad luck sale but. It's just confusing on why you would add that. Juncture. I think it's okay to act in that kind of way it's not one of those things where it's like oh we got to be on your best behavior but. Yeah representing not only Alabama in this case which are representing yourself and that's disappointing to hear. It is of course. You're right it's not hurt you know. It where he was it drafted because. He's the super count the football player and you know get that call to become a couple guys and earning an ear but it yet and hope that's not been heard of it by the drab approach a look at what's gonna do it. And I argued that he should add a leveler Egypt then he can not help but look at it you all gonna do is it going to cost teens. Chu who really tried to see if they can get under scandal and ask him when he comes in LA for interviews and they're gonna. They're gonna ask a lot of questions and figured if there's anything that he gets you know. Little riled up about a they note the sound great but look this is the Annabel. And it is now works there are teams I guarantee you we'll look at that and say yep that's my middle linebacker Seth and I think that's the main street yeah that guy. That's a great point sell before I let you go here ought to date quarterbacks wide receivers hit the field western Michigan's Corey Davis Clemson Mike Williams they won't test. They'll likely test and their pro day so. We are looking at today I know I east Carolina Zeke Jones ran really well this morning anyone else standing out I know the Syracuse kid who also ran today he also earned. He probably earn himself some money today with his forty time so used to be here you arrive at your guys at wide receiver today. The you know he did Hamad Al but he did not perform while catching the gauntlet thrown a lot you know it. They're that the question mark about it and select a security of the day he's a easily topic for somebody but I think he had a lot of and he a lot of potentially you know I think if you can. You get to will be more consistent you know catching the football I think he could beat. I got to stick around in in the eighties you'll make that allowed circuitry next year I look they Jones as far as everything he brings to the table but I think it. He's really helping himself maybe more than anybody here this weekend with what he's done. He is a guy that a terrific senior ball a lot to raise about them and suddenly he comes here he runs or more six and and backed it up. Or eight so now he's moving back in now he's in the first round conversation that's a they get into the guy that I could very well go. And the bottom after the first round and who knows if any these are challenging in that that the top app thereafter after all it is pro day after everything else. But people have to remember the bills tired is wide receivers coach at east Carolina beat their wide receivers coach. A coach Magee in his article that so they have intimate knowledge of this young man in his league player that I would definitely. Keep my eye on the US these judges that she was there. I think he denied it you know leave it thicker done. They could help them so that we got rocked the problems felt so I think there is that good wide receiver drafted. Really that panicked that the kind of draft electors to predict depending on what you need what your player is giving the other part of economic safety. So you've had an opportunity to talk to a few of the quarterbacks you've got sound there that'll be going up website shortly but dot any confirmed meetings for the bills and cool would go meet with individually at the quarterback position this this weekend. Yep my home is going to meet with the team I think he either did last series going 22 day. It was one I wrote yesterday I've. You know it yet to check economic order because that Palin I talk with somebody experienced something they did or they didn't. But I think eventually to the process they should be meeting with all their what do you think I I think the shot Watson was going to meet with them this week but he hadn't yet when he went to the podium look I am I'm really certain want the whole lot more them. As that he's big he is a guy that become a lot of people party that you know they love the challenge of the question is always the you know he plays ordinary type often extremely. But you know last year. Last year you know I like that mascot when I got to come by a really really like that yet as you know Arab member accidentally I do I remember your your analysis of them. In M I think it was because you don't eat you get elected guy with the when you hear that you see him as president and especially the quarterback position. He kind of try to put a little bit more together and that's really what that would mean Y kind of got over the edge on and that that I really like them. The kind of happened yesterday with all the equipment and a super problem. You know he down because repeatedly is that what they professional baseball player he's been around. Professional athletic at all like he knows you know how to how to prepare for an active at. And then nudges that confidence but not talking head that he was up there and I really enjoy I really enjoyed listening and speaking I and I'm start to really believe that this kid that. Could wind up going in the first round and you know wolf the which he nativity cant package that I think has a lot of talent but a lot of question about what he offered to play and. Yes Al odds say amen to look forward to really kind of breaking him down more it's interesting that you bring up they air raid offense because I am. I'm in the camp that I almost find it more intriguing beat that he played in an offense because he's actually forced to make full full. Field reads where a lot of these other correct the draft really especially a guy like to Shawn Watson. You can really gotta say he has fueled vision was really limited to about half the field however pat homes I won the only quarterbacks in this draft. That was forced to read a full field and I think that's an interesting kind of aspect of this raid offense carried off. No I agree that Agrium and look let's be honest I mean in this state aid in the NFL we're going more toward slot yet those. You know spurted out opposite buttons for five wide receivers on the field and you know. Not exactly the very little movement or its board that I put up the bill to be a little different for that and get around what. He's been a part of any runs a lot of bootlegs and roll out some things like that I think that that's going to be interesting they might wanna guy that's gonna. That that type of offense you know them so I think it could be scheme fit but I I didn't like at home yesterday extra -- you by the way you're circling in the children. Mitchell yup I did. Cell it'll probably it'll never be Mitchell it's always going to be Mitch money image yet his initials just too much it's too much. However we do exactly I don't know come up into your miniature right but he said the call Mitchell too risky so I guess that's what it that the people are gonna no doubt. And and then day at the shot clock that spoke yesterday as well armed guy at the thought about the interception feature I could you know that's something that. You know you'd think it is fair criticism that people had a lackluster march and in his credit he's an absolutely said. Of course you know I number but you know he recognized that. You know people it's not always what people think of the reasons why said that there are certainly sometimes he made bad decisions or bad throws but I think that's going to be an wanting people pick apart is that I number interceptions were. Several quickly before we let you go there's been a lot of talk lately gathering around the kid named Trevor Knight from Texas a and M what do you what do you heard about him in and got its chance maybe here's some his comments yesterday. Neither really hear from him yet that angle. Well she's at the accurately at eight podiums that wants an an stuff out there like eight table that we kind of the got a ticket years ago. Who we want to go talk to but I do know I do know that you know he. He's gathering some buzz here this week Alex and the other guys this is the chance brighten the comet it always the chance that the I get under the radar guys that they start to come forward here because you start this. He'd have a Little League and they storm without a helmet out you start to hear from them so what it's interesting we'll see where his stock start ago. Also sell thanks for joining us and got great stuff is always enjoy the rest of your weekend on an Indy. And Allen talks him. Okay how to beckon buffalo tomorrow in the dark cold and hopefully not. Hopefully not snow. I don't have a good up. Let's look at Roger there in the AT&T hotline joining us if you missed any of the interview from Indy you can head of the BGR fighting. It shall be there next hour so when we come back. Because we partly to break. How would we come back working Britain and I and Erica as well are going to release their kid dive into this Tyrod Taylor's Arial I know that it's been talked about ad nauseam how ever. There are a few things that I wanna bring up and I had a talk to break before it went on about a a little piece that. I'll warn sharp. Fox sports and ESP yen net broad up and I think it's it's got a lot of interesting aspects to Tyrod Taylor and why. He won't be back with the bills in 2070. I welcome back sports talks at any theory fat. Back at it another Saturday a great Wilson joins me today as well there Kramer on the board itself. Last hour if you missed any of my a interview with sale cup pot GO. You can go to the region are fighting dot com it'll be up there in the on an audio section very shortly so. Sale and I touched on it briefly in the very beginning. About Tyrod Taylor obviously we are now exactly seven days away. From a looming decision to opt in to me essentially two year 27 and a half million dollar. Contract extension or. The bills have and there's another that's the article Britain. Week he Braden right before we -- what's your article you want and need to look at in it was Krista paso from buff yeah rumblings. Yeah I'll put up an article an interest in one which I'm gonna pull up now. About the prospects of how to trade Tyrod Taylor and and essentially alleviate any of that real dad money debt cap. Hit anyways. And it's essentially being able to trade Tyler Tyrod Taylor from march 9 until March 11 when the league year officially begins in the ninth. Until the eleventh when the deadline for that contract either has to be opted in or opted out of or declined essentially did that option declined by the Bill Self. That's interesting thing to really look at there's also a tweak. From Warren sharp of ESPN fox sports he's at sharp football on Twitter. This was. Yesterday. And I yesterday morning. There's just 188 you basically labels and as notes on Tyrod Taylor when he sixteen and he's. Bad I don't say outspokenly. Critical of Tyrod Taylor I would say as critical as someone like potentially meet has been a Tyrod Taylor especially. Last season Horry and practice I'll record itself I Gregg to sell its right of it ESPN and I thought that count right. As always I'm. It's interesting guys. You know I think most bills fans shared the same sort of has it tense but also. Just sign the guy mentality and this is the best we've got but. A lot of what Warren sharp holes nom the statistics how are telling its telling me that's for shirt that beats. If you weren't a foot if you order bills fan in you read this. Not to go through it here momentarily but if you are just an average. Football fan in and board of bills and you look at this I think you walk away thinking that you haven't found your answer at quarterback position. No no I mean it looking at some of these statistics here. Eat eat meats meat thinking that reading Chris to pass those PS with trying to trade Tyrod it makes me think. What it what teams going to want a tree for tyra. Looking at some of these stats and there's there's there's certainly some teams out there than you quarterback they needed upgrade at quarterback and maybe Tyrod Taylor would be upgrade for them but. Mean if he doesn't have the pieces around him to need to be successful any he had plenty of peace is here to be successful element and it's been a struggle for him. Al-Qaeda I just don't understand I don't understand after seeing symbols stats here from. For more sharp how any team would want a trade for him I'll tell you this IAE I in the camp that I think a lot of teams are gonna look at the the full scope of what makes Tyrod Taylor or has made Tyrod Taylor at least slightly successful starting quarterback this week. And it's the combination. Of explosive athleticism and his ability to beat defenses with his feet. In his ability to beat defense is over the top and in the criticism that Tyrod Taylor has average arm. I don't necessarily thicker true I think Tara Taylor as one of the better. At least deep balls deep ball throws the absolutely and maybe that's where the criticism of his average arm strength. That doesn't as a comfort more or less comes from his inability to really hit the intermediate passing game on a consistent basis but. There are some numbers in here that it it's not silly even the numbers Braden that I look at Lego and and I cringe about it's the names of the other quarterbacks that he's lumped in whip. As a passer now because you dive in that you know people always confuse arm strength with getting the ball down the field strip. It's not just a cut and dried definition. It is about it's about hitting now out route how many times we see. Marquis is good and have to struggle to get it to catch and got romped past as easy or above its hat right it's not it was an and accurately from ball yes I'd like and not just get 190 CO driver once you've seen yet everyone this season. And Santa lock ins. But Sammy locked kids actually is made some incredible credible catches which he's made six rockets look at times but at. At the same time I think a lot of CME's injury issues passed. I'm from him laying out to go get a football that it's thrown inaccurately in him taken the brunt of the bad hit now and I think you can point to that but. Like I said I said you guys before you off there that take away. Tyrod Taylor's 500 and whatever it is rushing yards now that's hypothetical and if you wanna kill me for saying all you can't take away guys that's well. I'm looking at him as a thrower and when we talk about the quarterback position. You have to look at each player's ability to win with his arm first that's the definition I'm not ready to triple option. OK I don't care it's not a I don't care it's a nice added element to any quarterback's game and you're looking at some of these young quarterbacks in the draft. All these guys are running so for rates some four sevens okay. Everybody at the position nowadays is molded as. It's no longer where. A team is putting their best athlete at running back a teams putting it at a talk about a high school level at that it. At the Little League level level at the college look at the council the most explosive at. Athletes aren't playing skill positions anymore they're playing the quarterback position. I can tell you even up to like six or seven years ago you'll always. You were hesitant of putting your best athlete the quarterback position because. You wanted him on the outside is receiver you want it and coming up that you want it. Him to be able to to change the game with his feet his speed as a lot of Saddam but now. You realize that if the quit the best athlete in your team complete quarterback position the ball's in his hands every single play. But. You can find a guy that can be almost as dynamic as Tyrod Taylor running the football except like yours better. With his arm and it's an appetite it's hard to find or. Is it difficult to fine but when you look at the quarterbacks in this draft all of them are running really good time right there's no more Tom bradys are running 52 flats. Or five fives at the fort everyone's a great athlete now. So when you look at this you have to look at it from the aspect of how can Tyrod Taylor either quarterback and need him to be. With his arm because the steps here as I think the word really is telling. The guys that he's lumped together okay Brock gas Weiler Blake portals. Jared off Blaine Gabbert case Tina. Some the next war gap yet not as good games and those guys. When you look at though Italy when you compare it from the Tyrod I mean. Obviously you'd you'd think well Tyrod obviously better than all those in but I mean the stats when your clump together with them I mean. You almost kind of put. We ovals I think every a lot of people here buffalo wanna put. Tyrod and a class of just like well obviously he's better than those guys but really when you look at the stats he's just as good a throw guys passing passing wise you have to judge a quarterback right. Right and with Tyrod he's exceptionally. Good at running like god and like there's not a quarterback second run like he can't. But throwing the ball has become the biggest concern the first year he was throwing the ball quite well not not an issue and that's why he got the contract extension but it was premature we should guess you'd say. And for him to be getting the expected to be getting 27 and a half million dollars this year and have put up statistics like this no team's going to want a treat for that and second of all. No teams don't wanna pay for that right. Putting the bills there's a tweet to read it's like the first. The first response the sweet is this chart is a good is good at highlighting Taylor's flaws with numbers. But you can make a similar chart. Made of his positives just to easy and I'm hesitant to say that because a lot of my criticism of Taylor was. That a lot of his good statistics that people wanna use in saying Taylor's franchise quarterback. If he's not he's close. Taylor was aided all lots. By stats when his team was trailing in blowouts that means two or more possession football games. Against bad pass defense is this is this is at all except when trailing by double digits his 105. Quarterback rating was fifth in the NFL. 58%. Place success rate also threatened FL so. He's great when they're down double digits and they have to pass the ball when the bills were trailing by double digits his rating dropped by. Dropped to 87 point 5% so his ratings dropped almost a full twenty points. And they were trailing by double while they were still in the game and needed him to make plays. He took a step back. That's success rate of 45%. Is had up only Brock asked Weiler Blake portals and pound pepper now when teams can figure out how to stop your athletics is when teams can say. We wanna make Tyrod Taylor Corbett how many times did you hear that last year. Do we want to bet you're weak and want a near Italy one you heard it reached in early and got Austin and did you notice that the two teams that's sad. And Arizona they also sat. Both of those teams were that to. Only two defense is that the bills played last year the head that boasted a top ten pass defense. In those games went the bills played eight top ten pass defense. Tyrod Taylor averaged. About a seventy quarterback rating. Just about five yards an attempt no touchdowns and an interception. The jets also sent to and that score was buoyed by a defensive touchdown and threw garbage time points. And that's another thing in the stats here where they they calculate. How deep boosted his quarterback rating how we boosted. Really all of his stats because of garbage time play an instant you know and another thing here that they comes up is just. His is passer rating from the first quarter to the quarter to quarter second doubt third important. It dropped nearly twenty points like that's. That's not good wreck mean you could start out fine but you've got to be able to consistently throw the ball I just Tyrod Taylor just showing us especially Brayton. When you boast the NFL's top rushing attack that means teams are. Are preparing. To stop the run. That means there have to be holes to beat that team with a pass the finals flaws is right he just didn't that's right 8030551. Trip late fight fifty to fight fifty those are the numbers to call when we come back we're gonna take your calls we're talking about Tyrod Taylor there isn't it Thursday a valuation on Twitter from. Yes get a fox sports Warren sharp that number reading from on Twitter are all re tweet that again right here for Rea. And then if if you have any comments or or maybe you don't trust the numbers may be. You're the kind of guy that looks more at. Style of play. I guess there's a lot of a lot of things to this it's not just looking at numbers it's looking at the film it's it's who they played it situational football but it when he comes down to it. I just don't see hand being. A franchise quarterback with real fight 51 Tripoli fight you to fight to keep those of the numbers to call sports talk said he would got abbreviated version 1230. It is nights ansari night hawks' practice tonight talks buffalo bandits right here. Pregame coverage starting at 1230. Face off at 1 o'clock sabres also on WGR this evening 630. Pregame 7 o'clock faceoff 7 and 6 o'clock pre game seven face seven face up right here on to be GR. Listening to sports talk Saturday on a WGR Sports Radio five. Well seeing. Young quarterback. All potential. Team to develop and you shouldn't we'll see see exactly where you or some things yes we do in season. We're open. Trust. You get bit in over two days really kept me you know that's important and so you know trusted the McCain. Much fun. Former bills' interim head coach running backs coach offensive coordinator Anthony announced last year he was diagnosing. I guess his potential excitement of being able to coach Tara tiller for full offseason. And and those are things in and some of the things he said there were eight kind of bring you back to. I don't know that this is isn't that what last offseason and training camp once or he when he is the when he's the starter going forward for last year. Let's get to wake Paul Gregg in Toronto year on sports talk Sadr. Good morning. I'll open it up. There already clocked its morning. I'll let me preface it by saying that I know me but I think Tyrod Taylor is a front right cornerback but. My girlfriend who think football is soccer you let English background and palm. The tackle and lowest thing the only run outburst there Elway in the wrong for now they have for a long time actually. Right but what I'm getting at here is that if his numbers were so good. When the game out of reach like is that Quebec remember and whatnot. That means it's more coaching problem more than eight at Tyrod Taylor problem where why don't they let him. More or do it you know white always in the way that number though it looked good. After the lottery which means he's being hacked up yeah we have tracks from court but it's like. Because Arnold they trust of enough to throw the ball right an and it's something you really have to. Greg it it's difficult because. You don't mean view and an ever anybody else we don't get to see what the coaches see every day. Aunt and I think that's important when you're talking about hey how do we eat you know analyze a quarterback but I agree brought it would have been nice to see down take the reins off. And see but we didn't get to see that's a we have to go off of what we see. I know but I think it you know again if you're just starting from you know tackle spam. Idol fan standpoint it really looks like he was being Hank got beat the Seattle he had a great game but you can tell you what. Frustrate what that running plays they ran up field and they look like he was greater you know Paris opera cook or whatever but that is it likely. It wasn't he made to what he could do. When he had way to go to ball. Yet it's rare appreciate it it's it's something that I think you're gonna have to kind of gauge as we move forward here is. Especially if he's Quebec next year it's gonna be seeing how they handle tea or are they still. I'm sorry brain and I don't know if you agree with this but I don't think you should have to protect franchise quarterbacks I think don't you you up French as correction all should. Take the offense over mom and my mind yes and Tyrod Taylor simply just doesn't it 8030551. Tripoli by fifty to 550 if your hang in almost think there will try to get your column we come back I do wanna get into some savers talk they played this evening so we're gonna do a lot we're gonna set the stage at Riviera theaters at the stage. And take a look at some of tonight's story like six points out of a playoff spot. It's over but it's pretty close not quite and possible talk about that next in abbreviated version of sports talks edit right here on the beach. In the saddle again that freight Wilson and Erik Kramer along with you bringing you bill's talked this morning. If you missed the first hour you can add to that if you're fighting to dot com in the onto an audio section will be up there. Very shortly I want to get to one more call about the bills before we start talking sabres here Russ in buffalo has been waiting patiently on hold Ross welcome to sports sucks at. I went to the senate. I don't dish it may be a much different game but you bring your diet. Okay the first hearing here to compete for the starting job okay he went that in about okay. Update that's called nickel. Right you're pitching you're Jamal has much of pop. Okay deciding game Manuel number one scripted you whether or not turbulent and even number one draft pick he gave him tag. It gave it became an LA here at the starting quarterback. Okay. Lots if we want it to eight games. Ahmadinejad he lost late entry about what led to word mystery involved but what the games I don't punish gay and Powell. Instead they're the only thing you barked at him in the sense of what he still had. Well Ross all all all let me just erupted there I like your point OK and and I appreciate the call. Why am. I outspoken in my age. I got I don't see displeasure but I guess the relevance of stats you can you can use statistics. To back up any narrative you want you can use the statistics say that our Taylor's franchise court reckon you can find three or four to six that back you up. I can tell you that Tyrod Taylor is the is a bottom here pat quarterback through the air and I have plenty of stats to back that up yet. Stats are missed leading what you're trying. When you're trying to figure out if your if your quarterback's a franchise quarterback or not and what you have to do is use. The resource is you have in the resource is our more than just statistics it's watching film it's breaking down film and there were a number of occasions in 2016. I understand your point that type that Aaron Taylor was missing weapons like Sammy Watkins was missing weapons like Charles clay Robert what I did it. But there were open receivers that he just flat out missed last season. Because teams knew that if they stop the run you could stop the offense and there were opportunities for Tyrod Taylor to take a game over. With his arm. Any was unable to do so not because his run is receivers were bad and running bad routes not because they were dropping football's left and right because they were good receivers. They opened Taylor couldn't find him. Or they open it Taylor overthrew now you can say it's chemistry issue they port. Throwing together a training camp because. Injuries happen I mean there are you can make it what ever excuse you wanna make a about why Taylor was on it was wasn't successful last year but what you can't tell me is that he would have open receivers that he didn't have guys he could hit. He just didn't hit them and that goes into a deeper issue and that you could you steps to to tell me wanna Wear and a runner in that way but. The point of the fact is that the point of the matter he wasn't good enough through the air and when he sixteen he wasn't gonna open your inventory fifteen what makes me you. Our average fan think that that's going to get better next year and I understand either. Didn't have a lot of his targets Lester duty in every and some of and some of the wide receiver corps was depleted last year however you look at some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. They can throw the ball. Accurately they can throw the ball to whoever it is that they have on until it doesn't matter if they throw to the running back acted as a matter the throats of the tight end does it matter if they throw at the seventh string wide receiver and those guys are consistently hitting their targets in stride kept hitting them right in the chest hitting him in an area where they can get the ball and not have to reach back or jump higher reach a low to get the ball I mean this is. We Tyrod Taylor. Has. He's Heath isn't hitting those guys consistently enough. He isn't doing it at times where he needs to right hitting those guys most importantly when you need to do when you're hitting it when you're hitting these guys in the fourth quarter when you're down by 24. And you're just trying to make it a close game. That's I mean the stats pet. More sharks are like there are credible how how really bad Tyrod Taylor is in the names that he's grouped with. Is. Yuck. Brett and now imagine if somebody told you that your quarterback. Take away the running ability night out. What ever but take away the running ability he's. A sexually and lock foot with Brock costs why aren't a lot of passing categories and that alone. Should make you question. Let's transition we've only got another segment here left before bandits starts its coverage starts right here on the PGR 1230 pregame. Faceoff at 1 o'clock eastern from Rochester. The first moments contest. Brought to you by firth Jewelers always it's you know great great spot for tumors however. Britain's I wanna set the stage tonight as I mentioned the sabres home against Tampa Bay only six points out of playoff spot. Fore check I think has and Eddie one point 3% chance to make the playoffs how ever they are certainly scenarios that can play out that the sabres could end up only two points. Out of that last final playoff spot after tomorrow's game self. It's time to set the stage for tonight's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning brought you by the historic Riviera theatre visit Riviera theatre dot org to see complete listing of all the great shows they have coming up so brain set the stage for us tonight as the sabres take on. The Tampa Bay. Lightning at all well the sabres are gonna be without column polls I think that's the bigger news of the day. He according to Dan vials like he's got a rib injury it's believed to be possibly a broken or cracked a red week to week you'll be reevaluated in seven to ten days Paul Hamilton has his pregame look ahead. Over WGR 550 dot com so yeah you mention that the sabres could be. Two points back of the playoffs. If everything works out but I mean that that has to be. Teams that they're fighting with our losing in regulation. And the sabres winning both teams tonight's gonna be challenged his Steven Stamkos who's on the ice for the morning skate. He has been on the ice for the morning team the past couple herb for a and he was on a morning T few nights ago. Now he's on the ice again for the morning skates they not churches. He's gonna play yet I mean he's been out since November 15 with a knee injury. So you're looking ahead at what's coming up tonight to the notable games that the sabres have to have go there we tonight. The doubles they're taking on the Bruins in Boston at 7 o'clock face off. The Panthers are home they're taking on the Dallas Stars at 730. And then other than that. Her excuse that was a seven as well and and the Blue Jackets are an Ottawa to take on the senators the Blue Jackets need to win there. And then the capitals need to beat the flyers on home my 730 caps. Of course that the best team in the NHL cell be that would be that would be one where you could probably say are I feel comfortable with that then tomorrow the islanders are in Calgary to take on the flames at 4 o'clock. Buffalo of course place Pittsburgh tomorrow that's going to be a difficult challenge for the sabres. And then let's see here the devils play the Blue Jackets at five. And that eases. That is really it that is that comes to when it comes to teams that are in the playoff hunt with the sabres I mean. It seems that you really have to worry about at this point are the Panthers the lightning. And I think really that's it the islanders to sell I mean. There is a chance that the sabres if everything goes their way with that winning both tonight and tomorrow and and everybody else that needs to lose loses in regulation. The sabres could be two points back. Of the islanders in the second wildcard spot. That they have 71 buffalo could end up with 69 if they win two days. Tonight and tomorrow but. You know Toronto. Little bit of help their cause yeah they lost last night so they're they're stuck where they are at seventy points they'd fall out of the wild cards are the wild card spot the islanders now haven't. Sell any islanders to me are a team that just it seems like it's fighting their stride and it kind of seems like every year right this time they find their stride it's amazing what happened after they fired Jack cat ran out he comes and it seems like everybody is on board with Doug Weight and he loved Doug Weight. I'd and I and I don't blame them because it seem like even last year and the year before that I don't know how Jack Capuano held onto his job as long as he did because it seemed like guys were just. Disinterested they were they were losing trust in their coach last year they made the play house won a series the first since 1993 and then this year. To start the year that they were atrocious. At bats aren't so I think he's brought to you by the historic Riviera theatre tickets for all shows are now on sale now at the Riviera box office. World Hollywood entertainment center McCann and all and at Riviera theatre dot auto lab forgot to mention Robin Leonard did step back on the the eyes and according to Paul Hamilton he is going to be the likely starter tonight I don't know him miles look confirm it or not cut. That's a Paul tweeted outsell. If you haven't followed Paul Hamilton on Twitter yeah I'd at any I don't know what you're doing the beat his Twitter handles at. Brain damaged and are your thoughts to I mean obviously a few days ago. Following the trade deadline. Dan bows misspoke the media. Obviously GMT and talk to the team and there was a lot of talk about how that conversation with team. Really kind of gave them a renewed sense of urgency or or maybe just confidence that. This is the team that that they're they have movement for the shooters what eighteen games left. This is the group that it's going to be going Ford went in and I think it gave some comments but. I was interstate in some of the words that piles and a sad in that interview talking about the nature cool coughed. And you know if he can't seem to find his game here he is a candidate to be pulled by the line up but it. I thought the other night he played a pretty good game there were a couple of really good defensive plays a saw him making that game but I think what's. At least disappoint you the most about cool look off this season it's I was expecting to see a little bit more of that. Maybe not power play quarterback but I was expecting to see a little bit more puck possession I was expecting to see you with a bit more. And maybe you can talk about this a little humid maybe why such an issue but and I don't know if it's been about the system. But this team may be struggles more than any to have their defenseman start a Russia yes to really get up that first pass on his own. Tape to tape. Consistently in every I think that's why a lot of times you see them dropping decked Jack why his possession numbers are so terrific in the offensive zone but bringing the pop in. In his successful in bringing the pocket and in the camp that I think you need a defensive at least one line one parent. That can you can count on to beat that group that brings the pocket and have the success rate that's good at doing so but. I don't know if you think it's the sister party pictures the personnel. On this team right now that's just struggling to me to really put consistent passes together that first pass of the which we all know is the most important in starting an office of Russia the ice so. What's the disconnect there isn't the system is that the players are I don't know I am at a loss for words were almost. Three quarters the way season article a bit more than frankly I. It's I think it's a mix of both I think that. Especially with Europe regards to Demetric cool company that injuring the pre season certainly did not help them and didn't get them off on the right foot. He played relatively well the World Cup hockey I mean he was one of their top pair defenseman going up against and some of the best content some of the best. Lines around the world. And Demetric cool cobble impressive to me at least I thought OK if he can play like this throughout the rest of the season I'd be happy with that mean he's the type of defenseman that is a perfect. Second pair defenseman who can jump up on the first pair plea twenty to 22 minutes a night impede the guy that. You don't when he was important he was that he was in relatively good first pass defenseman he can get the puck down on the ice he skated really well for the type of player that he is. And he brings a little bit of a gritty edge to his game back on the Blue Line however. This year with the injury that's certainly didn't have the help him and I think that after that injury he just never found his game again. And that's why I'm kind of on this boat works just like well if Demetric cool cop hits free agency at the end of the year and timber goes up to him and says hey look we want to bring you back for one year we wanna make this work. You know would you be OK with taking maybe a pay cut to to come back and play one more season approve any contract yes hey. You get a one year two million dollar deal you have a good season maybe year talked about the trade deadline of getting moved elsewhere or if the team's war. You talk about contract since mid season if you work. I don't think he's gonna get I don't think he's gonna get. Two million dollars like you suggest I mean I think that he's gonna want a little bit more I mean it's not gonna be a dramatic contract cuts for money. It'll be probably. My guess would be three and a half mil maybe even a four milanese make it four point 333. Million dollars. And I think that if he were to take a pay cut it would be somewhere around that but I mean if he comes back next year and he proves everybody that hate. I'm healthy I'm 100% I'm focused I'm ready to go for the season. And this is how like employee and he plays the way that he did in Florida which you know before the season we were talking to a few people for. Florida and people were saying you know cool gobs of really good top you know top four defensemen that will. You don't Beckham play some productive minutes he plays. He plays Yunel. The one saint necessarily this season proves that he was that he was quite reliable on the and the defense is all because he hasn't and but in years past the people of said that he's been reliable in the defense of zone. This year it's been a struggle for him but again I think that injury. Really deep rail everything for Demetric cool caught heading into the season does that mean he was in and out of the lineup constantly. He's only played I think 3637. Games this season. And he's only got two points I mean that's certainly not the type of clinical call was when he was with the Panthers I mean he could easily put up. 25 to thirty points with Florida that it when he was down there I mean so much vocal sore but I mean he can move the puck quite well. And you know he skates very well for the type of defense and he has cell. I would definitely not be opposed to bringing him back next year kind of what I kind of like approving kinda the torch just like okay. Your healthy. You're you're focused you're ready to go now go out there improve that last year was just the Dodd year that aegis that after you've got injured he just couldn't find your game you lost your groove. Now go out there and prove that your 100% healthy you're ready to go and that you could be the defenseman that you work when you're in Florida because I think that Demetric who look up at the at the time of the trade I know people were saying. All and it analytic standpoint this is a terrible trade. Well I mean I think that he wasn't necessarily that bad of a tree just because cool Bob brings that the gritty NASA the Blue Line and and that. First pass that. I don't think the sabres really had at the time and and maybe next year that'll that'll come one Brendan goalie gets here or maybe even will organ gets here and and if he plays in the NHL or he goes back to college or goes to the HL but. I think who look up I would be absolutely on board with bringing him back next year because I don't think this was a year that really is proving it proving about anything. Or telling as to what kind of player he can be for the sabres. All right so pregame coverage sabres lightning starts right here at 6 PM.
