We got a lot of ground a couple of Chris Brown neatly journalists from Buffalo Bills dot com who's joining us right now Chris the -- it. Good morning do not mention that you drove through snow if you did to get to work today Jeremy will not be happy. It now okay Larry's elevator crazy -- of the same but. It's not really I'm just right so Chris. I don't think you were surprised well I don't let -- answer the question we surprise that Ryan was released. I know not really I think. I think it was it was pretty evident to me that they were gonna come to him I mean with a ten point four million dollar cap number. You can't have that on a quarterback that's part of a quarterback competition do you have an entrenched starter that's one thing good. You know the situation changed. Until I think the contract had to change and I think we ought to have a new. That the bills are gonna come to Fitzpatrick and you know see -- stated. Restructure that contract are probably quite frankly take a pay cut I mean it was going to be a restructured they weren't gonna move money around they needed him to come back. For less money and you know I think we all saw the numbers that mark -- for the Buffalo News came up with. In terms of what was presented to him and in my opinion I thought that was very fair but. I think there were some other issues at work here in terms of the decision that Fitzpatrick made I think he believes that. Even if he can back up somewhere else he can make comparable money. Number one and then number two you know I think. There's no you do you think about what he's walking into here. It's not an easy situation come training camp time you know it's a guy that's got you know kind of come in with a tail between his legs. And fight for a job that he previously had over the past three years. And -- it back again and he's got to do it in a brand new system I mean there's no continuity from an offensive scheme standpoint. No continuity from a coaching standpoint. So I think it wouldn't shock me he just thought it better to start fresh somewhere else. All right so they they move off Fitzpatrick right now the depth chart says Tavares Jackson and -- -- Two part question let's start with free agency first do you expect him to bring in via trade or free agency -- another veteran quarterback. I'm lane towards the draft here. I think they'll explore those options. And I found it interesting that you know there were two clubs called the patriots about Ryan mallet. You know Cleveland and Tampa reportedly doing that I can't see the patriots stuck in Turkey with the bills about a scenario like that they're not gonna do that with a division rival. What did you guys they feel -- past their prime which they obviously felt Drew Bledsoe ten years ago but. You know I think he'll explore options but there aren't many out there in the trade market. Free agent market -- Tremendously -- and so I think it is the draft now. You know I know it's been bandied about they only have six -- Wouldn't stun me if they used to want quarterback one early one late. Really -- I'd be surprised Chris I would think. I -- I am fully expecting now. In light of the -- being released of what you and I agree with you that the free agency crop of quarterbacks is really under underwhelming. I wouldn't I'd alms -- Wholly convinced round one around to the getting a quarterback but I think because they only have six picks and there are so many needs that I think they'd have to take care of that they wouldn't spend that second pick that if this guy doesn't work out doesn't develop what they need another quarterback they would take another high pick next year and spend -- -- quarterback. Yeah -- I -- recovered from there I think what they do in free agency will paint a better picture for us. At the likelihood. Two quarterbacks being drafted happening. I think if they successfully get. You know all linebacker that they can plug in and play right away. It's taking get a cornerback. That can compete for one of the top four roles in in the secondary it you know at the corner position in terms of sub packages in Dutch. You know if they can address some of these needs in the free agent market in the coming weeks. It may afford them a lot schori. Taking to swing it quarterback. You know which I think given the recent history. You know the quarterback that we've you know had to watch in. You know live and die by. Why not take to kick at the -- Chris Brown lettuce -- journalist Buffalo Bills dot com 8030550. To join us. And Oleg outside of your living anniversary. So let me ask you this in terms of of the the linebackers I wanna get back creates and you did a great job for those and haven't read his stories his columns. Go to the bill's website both of those dot com Chris did a great breakdown of free agency and guys that need positions for the bills into the guys to go after. I'm I'm not surprised that there were no sound ingested anybody that's pretty -- said that when he was ominous before the com -- He thinks -- -- a player in free agency probably not they wanna date you on assuming Kristin let the crazy contracts get out of the way and they go after the next year guys that they have been targeting. Linebackers screaming out for this team right now is a major need. There were some that signed yesterday but who the guys that are still unsigned that you think would be a good fit for my -- and what he wants to do here. Yeah I mean I like Erin Henderson in Minnesota. These young up and coming keying Green Bay Brad Jones I know Eric Walden is already sign that was another outside backers -- defense it and in Green Bay you know 27 year old that I thought. Would be a good fit but it looks like he's -- -- So I mean there are guys out there that I think can still fit that you can get at a reasonable price. And you know you look at the draft and the linebacker. Pool is not tremendously deep you have passed threshers. That you can get but you know if you're going to be doing some three force. You know need another inside linebacker that you can count on. Assuming -- Kelvin Sheppard is one of them. And so I think it behooves you to try to nail down at least one of those two roles either an outside role because of the absence of Barnett now who was released. Orange died. Lied about that he Kelvin Sheppard so. I think he's got to get at least one of those two holes plugged. In free agency. So you only have one and ideally less than I mean if you poll that free agency all the better because now that affords yet. More opportunities to fill the other hole which have. So you know that's kind of where you gotta go I think he had hit linebacker here at some point. Chris what about some of the guys that were cut whether it's the guys the jets got rid of -- those are older guys -- and Scott or even. Miami just cut Karlos Dansby. They cut they released Kevin Burnett who I thought was mentioned a couple years ago when he left San Diego is a guy the bills might evidenced in when he -- Miami. What about any of those guys. Yeah I think I'm just I'm hesitant to get a guy. On the wrong side of thirty. I mean maybe it just I mean I really don't think you can look at a guy like Bart's got as anything more than just stopped yet. He's 33 years old I thought. He took a big step back. In terms of ability I mean again I still can fill a hole and stop the run and I'm not gonna -- perspective that the -- means that. But I just thought that his speed took jump off a cliff I thought he was tremendously slower -- -- in many had been in recent years. And you don't wanna get a guy a year to relate. And I think that the risk you run with. With players that are thirty to 33 years of age and I think that's why. I mean it was very clear what Miami was deal and on day one yet they had time to cap room to make use but. Then in ninety described their approach youth and speed. And -- they jettisoned Dansby got rid of Burnett and yet to younger guys at linebacker in Ellerbe and Wheeler three count yeah. And I think that's what the bill and they need three down guys yet you have Bryant got back in the fold and he can help in the sub packages but. You need a true three -- guy can be out there every down. Especially with all the throne of the football that's going on now so. You know I don't want -- Seattle. For a yeah. You know a guy on the wrong side of thirty I'd like to try to find some guy it's affordable in the middle market. You know it's still got 45 good years in front of -- that's what can best serve this. The last thing on the other last isn't on ask you about -- tight end with Chandler coming back from the injury they could certainly use another guy. Who could catch the football as a tight end. Number of them signed yesterday who left on the market. Well yeah I mean I I really thought that it could be the whole package but you know he's headed to Chicago. Dustin Keller is visiting this yet but you know he's kind of a tight receiver. I don't recall the tight end. It's blocking is just not his thing. Not to stated don't have blockers here but you know again I was. Of one veteran guy that I would have been happy to get would be Anthony Fasano. But he's -- Kansas City but I think Brandon Myers is in under under the radar guy got played for the raiders last year. Came out and have a nice he's and you know 79 catches for over a hundred yards and four touchdowns. I mean granted they were thrown that ball a -- at the indie games if they were usually behind. You know Carson Palmer through for as many yards as he did last year but. The guy was productive I mean not a game breaker. He's kind of day these -- lot like -- Chandler quite frankly he's just not six -- seven and only six foot three so. He's only 27 years old I think that would be a good guy and a kind of you know put a bullseye on its TV can land -- Effort got left guard to Libby trees gone. And I don't have a big problem that I think I didn't. You know again with -- Roman and needs I just inning and made sense to give the kind of money they got in Tennessee but he so he's gone. To the bills promote candidate just promote from within is that a draft that area now is at a free agency move. Yeah I mean I think you can solve that it created the I mean there's a free agent right here in buffalo I mean Jim Reinhart. And I think a lot of people don't really consider him you know a serious candidate. But I think people forget over the last three years can't -- -- two point seven games for the teams started seventeenth. And if he would be a -- now. But I don't think he's a huge drop off I mean he's a capable guard and I think he proved that you know the previous profits now. -- fit this new offense that's up to the -- to decide but. I think he'd do a lot -- -- Reinhardt so wouldn't shock me if you know they try to start talking Turkey with him after losing out -- tree.
